The Aronimink Golf Club founded in 1896, belongs to the founding four clubs of the Philadelphia Golf Association.

According to its history, the club’s name was taken from the chief of the Lenape tribe who had lived in a farmhouse that served as the original clubhouse.

How much does an Aronimink Golf Club membership cost?

On average, the initiation fee is $37,000 and annual dues are around $7,000 ($583/month).  The annual food minimum is around $800.   This is according to a price list posted at PhillyMag.com.   While the source is older, it is probably safe to say these costs are slightly higher today, so it is best to use it as an average only.

Its golf course, an 18-hole, 6,955 yards, was designed by famous golf architect, Donald Ross. The course has a well-maintained open parkland layout, is lined by trees and has undulated terrain that makes walking easy along the course.

Aside from golf, the club offers three swimming pools, a fitness center, trap shooting, indoor/ outdoor tennis and paddle courts, and a Tudor clubhouse with several dining options.

Aronimink Golf Club is an exclusive members-only club.   To date, it has about 320 members, and the average age of its members is 45 years old. It has a wait list for incoming membership, and the waiting time would take about eight to nine years, according to some sources.

The golf course is well-known among professional golfers and golf publications. It was ranked 78th in “Greatest Courses” by Golf Digest, ranked 44th in “Toughest Courses” and ranked 55th in “Classic Courses.”  In 2010, Links Magazine rated Aronimink as the 4th  “Toughest Courses” during the PGA Tour. Moreover, it is a consistently ranks as one of the Top 100 golf courses in the United States.

The club has hosted many USGA and PGA championships in its early years.

The club also uses the clubhouse for social functions, including private parties and weddings. It offers its Ballroom Terrace and Cherokee Room for grand parties. Its Aronimink Ballroom, for example, accommodates more than 250 guests. Furthermore, the club offers its clubhouse for business meetings, conferences, training seminars, workshops, fundraising events and other social occasions.
