The Exmoor Country Club is an exclusive private member owned country club located on the north shore of Chicago in Highland Park, Illinois.

The club’s name is taken from the English novel, Lorna Doone, and was established in 1896 with 40 members. The formal opening of the clubhouse and the nine-hole golf course was on June 26, 1897, a year before the Spanish-American War. The course was later on converted into an 18 hole by then popular Chicago golf course designer HJ Tweedie in 1902. A few years later, the well-renowned golf course architect Donald Ross redesigned the layout with wide greens and rolling fairways to create a character to the club’s rich heritage and history. Moreover, for more than a century, the club’s exceptional clubhouse is still at its original site, undergoing many renovations in the 1920s through the 1970s, and then in 2000.

Currently, Exmoor has nearly 600 members who all enjoy the amenities of a complete-service and year-round family club.

According to Sheridan Road Magazine, they state the initiation fees are in the “$$$$” range, which is $60,000 or more, according to their legend chart.
