How much does an LA Fitness membership cost?

The cost of an LA Fitness Fitness membership will greatly depend on your location and the type of membership you want.  Depending on the current promotion being held, the initiation fee can range from $0 to $99, whereas the monthly membership is about $25 for a single club or $29 per month if you wanted to access all LA Fitness locations.  For a family membership, it’s safe to take these numbers and multiply it by the number of members who plan on using the membership while working out. Again, these are the averages we found, and these rates can greatly vary depending on your local location.  If you wanted to add additional amenities, such as the Kids Klub and tennis court access, then the costs could increase.  Refer to our “extra costs” section below to see what it could add to your monthly membership fee.

The club amenities do vary by location, but for the most part, most locations will have free weights, cardio equipment, a basketball court, indoor pool, racquetball courts, tennis courts, whirlpool spa, group fitness classes (aerobics, yoga, Pilates, cycling and more), a kid’s club, sauna, indoor cycling studio, personal training options and free WiFi.

All contracts require no long-term commitment.

The LA Fitness hours do vary by location.  Some are opened 24 hours a day while others are limited, with most open 5 a.m. until 11 p.m.

What are the extra costs?

The Kids Klub is an additional cost, and according to those who brought their children, the costs are said to be about $15 extra per month.

Personal training sessions are an additional cost to consider if you were to hire one.  According to our research, and we did go into depth with a guide here, we found it would cost about $60 per 60-minute session or less if you were to commit for the year.

Racquetball, tennis and basketball court access are considered to be an additional add-on at most locations.  Adding these amenities often adds about $7 per person.

Guest privileges can add another $20 per person per month.

How can I save money?

The gym does offer a free trial before you join.  If you were never a member before, take advantage to see if the gym is worth the cost.

Check with either your employer or insurance company to see if they offer any discounts for either this gym or another gym in the area.

If you’re patient, consider waiting for a promotion as this gym does offer them from time to time.  For example, in the past, they offered a $0 initiation fee.

If you’re an AAA member, they do offer promotions.  At the time of this publishing, for instance, they are offering a $0 initiation fee and $29.99 per month offer.

Ask a membership representative to see if they can work with your budget or offer a special promotion.  In some cases, new members were able to get a discounted enrollment fee by simply asking.
