The Wisconsin Athletic Club (WAC) is the largest and the most respected privately-owned athletic club in all of Wisconsin.

Founded in 1976, and continuing on for years, the WAC currently has club locations in West Allis, Greenfield, Downtown, Wauwatosa, Waukesha, the North Shore, Menomonee Falls and Brookfield.

How much does a Wisconsin Athletic Club membership cost?

On average, the membership costs will vary per location, but the fees we researched, on average, were anywhere from $50 to $75 a month, and the one-time initiation fees, depending on the current promotion, would be around $50 to $75.

For those who don’t want to apply for a membership, a $20 daily guest fee will apply.  Guests, in order to qualify for this type of pass, must live within the five-county-Milwaukee-area, must be at least 18 years old, and must provide photo and valid ID upon entry into the club.

According to this BizJournals.com article, the cost of a membership at the Wisconsin Athletic Club can range anywhere from $53 to $65 per month.

On this Yelp review for the downtown location, members said they paid anywhere from $50 to $75 a month.

With a WAC membership, members have complete access to all seven club locations in the Milwaukee area, including the 24-hour location in West Allis.  Memberships are month to month and will have no contract attached.

The WAC offers over 850+ group fitness classes per week at its seven club locations.  These classes include dance, cardio, strength, Kickboxing, Indoor Cycling, Step, Water, Conditioning, Stretching, Kids Fitness, Prenatal and Senior classes supervised by certified instructors.

The club offers racquetball, squash, handball, basketball, badminton, indoor soccer and pickleball options.

Swimming, aquatic workouts and lap pools are available at all locations, with the exception of the WAC Downtown location. Swim lessons are available for all ages and levels- from toddlers to seniors.

Massage therapy options for WAC and non-members are available.  Options include Swedish massages, hot stone massages, pre-postnatal, senior, pre-event and partner massages.

Corporate Wellness with onsite services and wellness programs for employees.

Nutrition programs, seminars, recipes and consultations are available.

Individual and personalized training programs are also available for incoming and current members.

What are the extra costs?

The cost of private personal fitness training sessions will need to be budgeted for if you do sign up.  These costs will depend on the type of sessions (private/group) and how many sessions you purchase in bulk.  For a private session, members report paying close to $40+ per 45-minute session.

Advanced training and certain group sessions may have an additional charge.  These classes are said to cost $40 to $50+ per seven weeks.

Parking fees may apply at some locations.  According to members, if you have a voucher, it will cost about $2.

If not part of the membership, childcare fees may apply.  Costs are said to be close to $15 a month for two hours of care per day.

Unlimited tanning, available at some locations, can cost $15~ a month.

How can I save money?

Complimentary trial memberships for one week are available for potential member applicants with each guest allowed to one complimentary pass each year.  Either call the club directly or check online to sign up and take advantage.

Check with your employer to see if they offer any discounted membership plans.
