I was quite shocked when I saw the conditions that dogs of 1500-2500 were living in. In fact those breeders were either selling dogs from a litter of show dogs that they wanted to rid themselves of or they were breeders who were obviously making money because they did not give quality care. We are on our 7 dog since I was a kid. There seems to be two kinds of breeders, those that show and use only a few show sires to make puppies and backyard breeders who sell for much less and have deplorable conditions, bad history of breeding and they change their kennel names, or people who just try to stick Jane with Dick (not to make a pun) and make puppies because they make money. We used a breeder that shuns all the above and got a great dog. We feel the money we spent was way worth the pricing and definitely would do it again in a heart beat. The breeder we saw in our own home town has a dog that looked like he was a mixed breed yet the breeder said he was a champion. That is when we started to look some two years ago and finally decided that a good dog carried a high price because of the quality involved. We could not be happier with our dog and plan on another next year.
