I was bit by a deer tick. Went to Aurora health care in Fremont. I wanted a test or just prescribe the antibiotics. A Physician assistant wanted to tell me everything I already knew about Lyme disease. Finally got the test. ( I heard test are unreliable.) Negative. Bill comes about 2 months later. $299 for the visit not including test. United Health care made NO adjustment to bill. The bill was under the doctors name the PA reported too. The rate for the visit for the DOCTOR-I did not see- was actually GREATER than $299. We had a deductible policy of 2500 for family(2 in our family) So we were responsible for ALL. I was in office with a PA or a nurse who did blood draw for about 20 min. PA really did nothing except not give me antibiotics

$415 was billed and insurance paid all but copay of $35. I spent about 20 minutes there and 10 of them was sitting there waiting both in the waiting room and in the patient room for a nurse practitioner which incidentally along with another nurse practitioner there constantly sends me to other doctors that have nothing to do with my afflictions thus wasting time and money while making sure other doctors get their share of the piece of pie for non treatments. I have begun looking for another physician but fear this is a wide spread problem and it wouldn't be any different no matter what doctor I see. I am on medicare and now see what bilking the system by doctors really means.
