Outside the USA, an EKG costs about $25. An MRI or an Echocardiogram (Ultra-sound), would each be $15.

Something is very, very wrong with the cost of American medicine. It will only be made worse by the ACA, but it”s still like 40 times more expensive than it needs to be.

When I was 15 I had chest pains and a doctor said I just had “growing pains”. The EKG I had done at 17 showed I was born with a heart valve that is too thick. This didn’t cost me anything since I was on my mom’s health insurance at the time. I was glad it was done, since it validated that I wasn’t imaging the pains and it wasn’t just “growing pains”.

I thought I might have strep. As far as I’m concerned this doctor was clearly ripping off the insurance company. I am healthy except for my sore throat; have no cardio issues.

This was my first (and last) visit to this thief!
