How Much Does a Muscle Biopsy Cost?

A muscle biopsy is the extraction of a muscle tissue for laboratory examination.  This is usually done to identify any muscle related disease such as muscular dystrophy, trichinosis, toxoplasmosis and atrophy.

The two main types include a needle biopsy, which involves a needle inserted into the muscle to extract tissue, and the open biopsy, which requires the removal of a portion of the muscle tissue through an excision. This is a minor surgery so the patient is awake during the procedure.  It can also be done at an outpatient clinic.
