Alpha Kappa Alpha, also known as AKA 1908, is a sorority and fraternity that college students can join.

Founded on January 15, 1908, on Howard University campus, AKA 1908 is the first Greek-lettered sorority to be established by African American women college students.

How much does an AKA 1908 membership cost?

On average, joining the AKA 1908 would cost between $300 to $900.  Membership costs for the undergraduate level range anywhere from $500 to $800.  Nonetheless, depending on the institution or chapter you are joining, the cost may be lower.

Becoming a member of this sorority enables you to take part in improving the social and economic conditions.  For example, the AKA undertakes community-building and community service programs through the creation of associations, programs, and even influence the federal regulations.

This organization advocates programs related to education, business, health, and family.  Becoming a fully-fledged member of the AKA 1908 sorority also gives one esteem and recognition.  In addition, connections with fellow members from all over the world can pave the way for even brighter career opportunities and establish connections that will be of benefit to you.

If you attend a school that does not have an active AKA 1908 chapter for you to join, you can find one at another campus.  If you meet all of the requirements at your own school, other AKA 1908 chapters will still accept you.

What are the extra costs?

During the regional conference, there may be changes in chapter dues so they are likely to increase each semester.  As such, the membership dues of $80-$100 annually also rise as the need arises.

Plan budgeting no less than $100 to $200 for renewing your annual membership.  Reactivating your membership, on the other hand, can cost $300 to $500.

In case you want to attend an event sponsored by the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority, you will need to pay an entry fee.

Each Alpha Kappa Alpha chapter is unique and will have its own specific projects, needs, or programs.  As such, fees will vary depending on these things.
