The Congressional Country Club is a private country club and golf course located in Bethesda, Maryland, approximately 30 minutes from the U.S. Capitol Building.

Founded in 1921 with U.S. presidents listed as founding members, the club was opened in 1924 and was originally intended to be an informal meeting place for politicians and businessmen.

Today, the USGA par 70 course, which measures 7,245 yards in length, is one of the most widely known golf courses in the world and is an annual stop on the PGA tour.

Tips to know:

The Congressional Country Club is open to all members and their guests but is not made available to the public.  Non-members are only admitted if they are accompanying a member.

Members and their guests are required to follow a dress code.  No denim clothing is allowed on the golf course.  Shirts need to have collars, and Bermuda shorts are required when shorts are worn.  Fitness clothing should be worn inside the fitness area only.

The club’s sprawling clubhouse is the largest one in the United States.

Some of the most notable club members include former American presidents Calvin Coolidge, Dwight Eisenhower, Warren Harding, Herbert Hoover, John D. Rockefeller, William Howard Taft, and Woodrow Wilson.

There is very little information made available to the public regarding the Congressional Country Club.  Their website does, however, give information on job opportunities within the club.  While their standards are very high, it seems that there are a lot of opportunities available.
