The Friendly Hills Country Club, established in 1967, is a private member-owned club located in Whittier, California.

How much does a Friendly Hills Country Club membership cost?

On average, the initiation fees will be anywhere from $15,000 to $30,000, while the monthly fees will average about $600 per month for an Equity membership.  The costs, as with most country clubs, will greatly depend on the type of membership you sign up for.  Junior and social memberships will be less than the $600 per month mentioned.

The membership options

Equity (regular) – The Equity membership allows members to use all of the clubs amenities and facilities. Children and grandchildren, younger than 25 years old living at home or attending school, may also take part in the swim team and junior sports camp during the summer. An Equity member has the right to vote, and to date, the club is owned by 400 of its members.

Junior – The Junior membership is available for younger members, and there are four classes of junior memberships based on age.  A Junior membership is available to individuals who are 21 to 39 years old.  Junior Members are not able to vote.

Social – A Social membership can use the club’s amenities with the exception of golf.  Children and grandchildren, younger than 25 years old living at home or attending school, may participate on the swim team and participate in the junior sports camp during the summer. A Social membership cannot be sold or transferred.

Friendly Hills Country Club overview

The club has an 18-hole golf course, with a full-length driving range, an area for chipping and bunker practice and four putting greens. The club offers private golf lessons by PGA and USPTA instructors. The club holds friendly golf tournaments for both men’s and ladies golf associations.

There are four lighted tennis courts, with private lessons provided by professional tennis trainers. The club hosts junior tennis tournaments, mixed doubles, and ladies tennis tournaments and has a pro shop where members can get their tennis gadgets and apparel.

The club has a heated Olympic-size swimming pool that has a one-meter diving board and a three-meter diving board. There is also a toddler pool for young children. The club is proud of its swim and dive team called the Unicorns, often placing high in summer swimming competitions.

A state-of-the-art fitness center, which overlooks the first tee and swimming pool, offers free weights, treadmills, bikes, machine weights and elliptical trainers.

The club offers dining options from Tuesday until Sunday and a full social calendar of activities, tournaments and social gatherings between members, families and guests. There is an upstairs restaurant which offers a la carte dining every Thursday and Friday evenings, with an intimate and elegant ambiance. The dining hall has high-beamed ceilings where beautiful chandeliers hang to creatively accentuate bay windows that overlook the scenic views of the golf course. The club serves American and continental cuisine, combined with a wide selection of wine and drinks.  The club’s lower dining room and grill offers an opportunity to meet with friends for food before playing a round of golf. Likewise, this area is great for entertaining business associates while overlooking the first tee and eighteenth green. Breakfast and lunch are available six days a week with a good selection of food.

The club offers its facilities for private occasions like weddings and other celebrations. The club offers its downstairs banquet room and an upper reception area, which is adjacent to a classy bar.

What are the extra costs?

Green fees will apply to guests and members who don’t have golfing privileges.

Private lessons, tournaments, and clinics, all of which are offered for golf, swimming, and tennis, will be an additional cost to consider.

Social events, which are often held throughout the year, can be an additional cost to consider.  Some events, according to the official calendar, includes the Polar Bear Plunge, 4th of July Celebration, Thanksgiving Buffet and many more.
