Originally commissioned in 1898 by an heiress to Nevada silver fortune, the architect modeled the Rosecliff Mansion after the Grand Trianon at Versailles.

For a warm, grand family wedding with hundreds of guests, the Rosecliff Mansion is the ideal location for a wedding day.

This snow-white house with classic lines features the largest ballroom in Newport, Rhode Island, and a heart-shaped staircase which offers the ideal frame for your wedding portrait.  The ballroom features floor-to-ceiling windows that provide panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean and the landscaped gardens.  When weather permits, the east wall opens up to a canopied stone terrace.

 How much does a wedding at the Rosecliff Mansion cost?

The cost of renting a cottage will depend on the time of year and the day of the week.  On average, it costs about $15,000 to rent Rosecliff Mansion for a Saturday evening during wedding season; however, if you choose another day of the week, the rental fee can be as little as $8,000.  This is the rental fee only.  As for the estimated price per head, this can range anywhere from $135 to $155.

One forum member on this TheKnot.com forum thread claimed that she was quoted $25,000 for a Saturday night.  This fee included the room rental fee for five hours, a 10 person staff, clean-up fees, tables, and chairs.

Yahoo! notes a wedding held here can range anywhere from $25,000 to as much as $85,000 depending on the food, beverage and music choices.

The mansion offers the Ballroom, which can accommodate up to 180 guests for dinner and dancing or the Salon, which is adjacent to the Ballroom.  This room can accommodate up to 90 guests.  A dining room is also available for a dessert buffet.

A terrace stand-up cocktail reception can be held on the outdoor, roofed terrace, with grand views of the Atlantic Ocean.

A bridal dressing suite is available for all packages.

As for catering, couples may select a caterer from the venue’s exclusive list.

What are the extra costs?

Mandatory additional fees apply, ranging from table and chair rental ($7 to $10 each) to event staff ($17.50~ per hour per staff member), a police officer ($55~ per hour per professional) and preparation fees ($2,500~).

How can I save money?

Work with the wedding coordinator if you’re on a tight budget.  As long as the budget is within reason, they may be able to work with you.  For example, you can choose to hold your wedding during the off-peak months such as January, February, and March.  Most caterers and other service providers offer discounted pricing during these months.  The rental fee is also reduced during these winter months.  Also, you can also save money by reserving your wedding on any other day of the week instead of on a Friday or Saturday.
