The Saucon Valley Country Club, located in the Lehigh Valley of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, has hosted six U.S. Golf Association championships and is one hour north of Philadelphia.

Founded in 1920 by a group of Bethlehem Steel executives, the club has grown to more than 800 acres that feature three 18-hole championship golf courses and a six-hole course.

How much does the Saucon Valley Country Club cost?

The costs to join the Saucon Valley Country Club, as with any country club, will greatly depend on the type of membership you sign up for.  According to this job posting, the initiation fees are said to be $30,000 and the annual dues are $11,500 ($958/month) for a full membership option.

The membership options

Active – An option for those who are older than 21 years old.  This membership class is eligible for election and is divided into two categories:  Resident, an active member who lives within 30 miles of the club, and the Regional, an option designed for someone who lives 30 to 50 miles within the club.

Non-Resident – A membership option designed for a member who resides at least 50 to 130 miles of the club.

National – Any member who lives more than 130 miles from the club may be eligible for this membership option.

Associate – An option designed for a clergyman, a widow/widower of any member, active military personnel, an Active member older than 75 or any Active member who is at least 70 years old and has been with the club for at least 20 years.

Junior – Designed for members who are 21 to 34 years old.

Recreation – An option for any person older than 21 years old.  This membership option entitles to a member to dining, social and athletic privileges only.

International – An option for any member who resides outside of North America.

Social – Designed for any member older than 65 years old, regardless of how long he or she has been a member.

Saucon Valley Country Club overview

The club offers three golf courses – the Old, Grace, and Weyhill — which span 850 acres, a six-hole short course, fully stocked golf shop, indoor/outdoor tennis courts, squash, four swimming pools (diving well, lap, junior and wading), squash, a fitness center, fly fishing, a kids club, fine dining options and an 18th-century guest house with 13 bedrooms.  The club also offers an array of year-round and seasonal social events.

Dining options include the Grille Room, the Pine Room, West Terrace, Men’s Locker Lounge, the Lime Kiln, the Field House, Villa Pazzetti and the Weyhill Clubhouse.

What are the extra costs?

All four racquet sports and golf offer clinics, leagues, teams, lessons and special events, all of which can come at an additional fee.

Tips to know:

All three courses (Old, Grace, and Weyhill) have been consistently ranked in the “Top 10 Courses in Pennsylvania.”

Tournament history, as of late, includes the 2000 U.S. Senior Open, 2009 U.S. Women’s Open and the 2014 U.S. Mid-Amateur.
