Lead Based Paint Inspection Cost

Lead, considered to be toxic, isn’t always a hazard.

If, for example, the lead-based paint in beneath layers of lead-free paint, then it may not cause a problem — it’s when the lead paint is at the surface, where it can cause an issue as it can be rubbed, scratched or even disturbed by a water leak, eventually getting into the air particles you breathe.  This can be quite the problem for the young and those who are pregnant.

The older your home is, especially if it was built before 1940, the greater your chances of lead paint will be as nine of 10 houses built before this year used lead paint.

In 1978, lead-based paint was banned, with lead-based plumbing prohibited in 1986.

How much does a lead-based paint inspection cost?

The costs of a lead-based paint inspection will depend on the inspector you hire, your geographical location and the size of your home.  From our research, the average cost of an inspector will range anywhere from $300 to $500 for the average 1,600 square foot, three bedrooms, two bathroom home.  For a decent estimate, we recommend budgeting about $0.25 per square foot, with most inspectors requiring a $125 to $150 minimum to complete the work.

If you’re thinking about hiring a professional, we do recommend you use HomeAdvisor.com to find screened contractors in your area.  With this free-to-use tool, you simply describe your job and contractors in your area will contact you with a no-obligation quote, either via email or phone.

At-home kits, while it shouldn’t be considered as an alternative to a professional, are available online and can cost as little as $15 to $25.  With these kits, a lot of top-rated sellers are EPA recognized and will offer results in as little as 30 seconds as long as it’s used properly.  To use, you crush, shake and swab the surface, and if the results turn red, then it likely means lead is present.  The EPA also has a list of approved at-home testing kits.

According to HolmesInspectioncom, they note the average fee to test will range anywhere from $160 to $400.

A real estate agent from South Carolina on this Trulia.com thread noted you will often pay about $450 for a lead-based test.

The extra costs to consider

The costs will not stop there if the inspector finds lead-based paint on the surface of your walls.  If revealed, you will need to hire a lead risk assessor to determine the risk and analyze the levels.  To do this, they will peel a piece of paint off of your wall and sent it off to a lab for further analysis.  This analysis, on top of the estimates mentioned above, can cost another $400 to $500.

To have a professional remove lead-based removed in your home, the costs will depend on a variety of factors, including the size of your home, geographical location and the professional you use.  We wrote a guide in the past on this very topic and noted it would cost about $8 to $17 per square foot to de-lead a home.

How the process works

Lead inspectors often use an x-ray fluorescence analyzer, which is a tool designed to detect paint, as well as surfaces, to determine if the lead levels are above safe levels.  Inside a typical report, the inspector will include all of the troublesome areas and a quote, if they offer remediation services, on what it may cost to resolve the issue.  This report will only tell you if the surface contains lead, not the air and/or soil.

Aside from the x-ray fluorescence analyzer method, contractors may also expose the different layers of the paint, down to the wood, either from around the window or trim.  With these samples, the results are then tested with an EPA approved test, indicating if the lead is currently present.  If the section does indicate lead, then it will be tested again to confirm the results and a treatment abatement plan or maintenance schedule will be discussed.

Tips you should know

If your home tests positive for lead, then the law will require you have it removed as there are strict standards set by the EPA for the amount of lead levels allowed inside a home.  When removed, it must be done by a certified professional who has undergone rigorous training.  To find a locator in your area, you can use the official EPA search engine here.

As of December 6, 1996, a Federal law went into effect requiring sellers disclosing any known lead-based paint surfaces when selling a home.

Laser Spine Institute Cost

The Laser Spine Institute, the leader in minimally invasive spine surgery, has locations in Cincinnati, Cleveland, Oklahoma, Philadelphia, Scottsdale, St. Louis and Tampa Bay as of 2018.

How much does the Laser Spine Institute cost?

As there are so many factors in regards to the costs here, the company, as per its cost page, says the costs will greatly depend on your insurance provider, but most out-of-pocket expenses due will be in the $1,000 to $15,000, but it can be more or less, again, depending on your insurance coverage.  The company does allow you to see if you’re a candidate, for free, by filling out a form on their official website.  If you had an MRI and/or CT scan in the past, they will be happy to review it as well.

The costs mentioned above was quoted by the official page, and while they quoted a $1,000 to $15,000, our findings found out that these ranges were quite large, often ranging from as little as $8,000 to more than $40,000 from many commenters online.  These prices, from what we researched, greatly depended upon the patient’s condition, the number of procedures performed, the insurance coverage and the geographical location.

Even if you did have insurance, the company would ask for a hefty up-front payment, and if your insurance company did cover the procedure, then this amount would be returned to you.

On this ConsumerAffairs.com review page, we found someone who claimed they were responsible for the $18,000 facility fee as their insurance policy would not cover it, while another negative reviewer said they had to pay a $10,000 upfront deposit in order to get started until his insurance company paid the amount.  Someone in Arizona said they had to pay $13,000 for their procedure.  With ConsumerAffairs.com, we usually do not like to link to this website due to their unethical review process but do keep in mind that if you see the words “ConsumerAffairs Accredited Brand” at the top, it does mean the brand is paying to effectively monitor its reviews, so you will have to do some digging in order to find the negative ones.  You can read more about their ethical practices here and about a lawsuit here.  Again, we only linked here because a few people did share their costs about the process.

Via this company’s Yelp page for its Scottsdale, Arizona, location, one reviewer said Medicare would not pay and he would be responsible for either $30,000 in cash or $35,000 if on a credit card.  Another said they had to pay $25,000 upfront out of pocket.

Online, we were able to find so many people who shared their costs and compiled our findings inside the table below:

$4,500 after insurance denied the claim
$18,000 after refusing Medicare
$30,000 in St. Louis
$16,900 in Tampa
$8,000 after insurance paid -- initially quoted $35,000
$30,000 in Scottsdale
Quoted $15,000 to $30,000 for a single surgery which may require more than a single level
$8,000 in Scottsdale
$20,000
$30,000 cash discount after insurance denied
$10,000 after insurance denial

The process

As compared to traditional back surgery, the Laser Spine Institute claims there’s no lengthy recovery, a 99% patient recommendation rate, less than a one-inch incision and all surgeries are performed by Board-certified surgeons.

Before the surgery begins, you will meet with a physician to review your MRI and any other records to confirm you’re a candidate for the procedure.  If considered to be one, you will then undergo a physical exam, diagnostic testing and set up a surgery date.

On the day of surgery, nearly every surgery performed, as per its official FAQ, will use a combination of a local anesthesia and intravenous sedation, all administered by the anesthesia team which consists of anesthesiologists and certified registered nurse anesthetists.

A laminotomy, one of the most common procedures performed here, is done to help relieve pressure on the spinal cord compressed by spinal stenosis in order to narrow the opening of the spine.  As for the laser process, the most common procedure used is a facet thermal ablation, which is performed with a smaller-than-average incision to help relieve pain often caused by arthritis in the joints.

Other procedures, depending on your condition, they may used include a foraminotomy, discectomy, RegenaDISC, decompression with Interlaminar Stabilization device, cervical disc replacement, a posterior cervical fusion, transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion, lateral lumbar interbody fusion or an SI joint fusion, as per this PDF.  Youc an click that link to learn more about the procedures they offer.

After the procedure, you will be taken to a recovery area, where you will recoup for up to 90 minutes before being discharged from the facility.

Two weeks after the procedure, you will be asked to return to either the center or your primary doctor to check the incision area.

If traveling to a location from out of town, the company does break down its process here.

The perfect candidate for the procedure

You were diagnosed with either spinal stenosis, bulging/herniated disc, sciatica or other chronic spine conditions.

You have trouble standing, doing light exercises, sleeping or participating in daily activities.

You have tried other treatments in the past, such as physical therapy and/or chripriatic care, and it isn’t working.

You already tried a surgical method and it didn’t work.

The Tampa location on Yelp had a 3 out of 5 star rating with 23+ reviews, while the Wayne, PA location had a 2.5 out of 5 star rating with nine reviews.

Dr Urshan Weight Loss Cost

The Dr. Urshan Health and Weight Loss Center, located in both in Tampa and Largo, Florida, allows you to transform yourself, both inside and out, in as little as 40 days.

If this sounds too good to be true, the doctor’s official website claims, it’s, indeed, real.

Unlike any other diet program out there, this program will focus on enhancing your health at a cellular level, helping you clear out any harmful toxins as you lose weight.

As long as you closely follow their 40-day weight loss program, they say you will reset your metabolism and weight set point so you’re able to keep the pounds off for life.

The cost of the Dr. Urshan weight loss program

The cost of the initial consultation, which consists of a computerized body composition analysis can greatly vary depending on the type of promotion being held.  For example, at the time of this publishing, the company was running a Valentine’s Day special, allowing you to receive the consultation for free with you and your significant other.  In the fine print, this “free” offer was a $300 value.

After the consultation, if you do agree to start the program, the costs of the entire 40-day program was in the $1,500 to $2,000 range for the entire 40-day program, according to these Yelp and BBB reviews.  One reviewer, in particular, on the Yelp thread said she was quoted $2,000 for the program and felt the “500 calories per day was not sustainable.”

Some did report you could receive a cash discount if you paid up front, however.

How the program works

The clinic uses a proprietary system, which evaluates the messages sent by your physiochemical response and body, to help create a customized and personalized plan for every individual that takes advantage of their consultation.  This unique program, as per the FAQ, will focus on the areas of unwanted fat by essentially regulating your body’s system to support unwanted conditions such as adrenal fatigue and thyroid dysfunction.  As your body detoxifies at a cellular level, this plan will help increase your metabolism, effectively changing your weight set point.

The system will utilize a very low caloric intake diet, often averaging 500 to 800 calories a day, depending on your assessment.  As the program doesn’t require prepackaged foods, clients will be able to eat any of the foods recommended on the approved list, including eating out at restaurants.  Aside from not using any prepackaged meals, not shots or appetite suppressants are used as well.

From reviewers online, it appears you will avoid oil-based foods and no carbs, similar to that of the Atkins Diet.  There are also certain medications/supplements you must take at certain points of the day to see results.

Dr Urshan reviews

For his two locations, his Tampa, Florida location had a total of four reviews, with a three out of five star rating on Yelp, while his Largo, Florida location had a one star out of five star rating, but it only had one reviewer.  The negative reviewers had a lot in common, noting they 500 calories per day was not sustainable and did not feel great while on the program, while the positive reviewers loved the staff, the process and the results they saw.  For the Tampa location, there were more than 50+ “not currently recommended” reviews, with many of them giving the facility a one-star review.

Via the Better Business Bureau, the clinic had a B+ rating with more than 26 total customer reviews for an average of 4 out of 5 stars.  Here, most of the reviews were positive, with only three reviewers complaining about it.  However, consumer advocates say you should be very wary of BBB reviews as owners can “buy” a good rating.

As for his Google reviews, he had a 4.0 out of 5.0-star rating with 50+ reviews.

His official Facebook page had 25+ reviews with a 4.3/5 rating.

Dr. Urshan complaints

While there were a lot of compliments about the program, we did find many complaints as well — something a lot of potential buyers are searching for.  Using the same review websites we sourced above in our “reviews section,” here are some of the most popular complaints we found:

Low calorie intake a day, often as little as 500 a day.  This made a lot of people report feeling sick, had headaches or tired.

No refunds available after learning about how the program worked in detail.  Many didn’t like they couldn’t learn until after they paid.

Some state he is not a “medical” doctor, only a chiropractor.

NOTE:  There were many pros online and from our assumptions, your results will vary.  All of these reviews were sourced from online review websites and are not our opinion.

The reported Burn Fat Orlando program cost

Before you can begin the program, some do say you may have to pay a $30~ fee to receive your analysis, however, this fee may be higher or lower depending on the current promotion being held.

The costs of the program, from what we read on these BBB reviews, tend to be in the $2,000 to $2,200 range for the entire program, which is about 12 weeks long.  This price range, from what we researched, will be for the diet plan and doctor’s advice and will not include any of the food you need as you will be responsible for creating your own meals based on the center’s recommendations.  Some did note you could sign up for a payment plan for about $197 a month for 12 months or $114 a month for two years.

On their Yelp review page, one member stated they paid $2,000 “worth of lies.”  She claimed the would not talk about any specifics about the program until you paid the full price up front.

How the program works

According to the official website, they take a customized approach, ranging from teenagers to senior citizens.  Working one-on-one, they will create a customized and personalized weight loss profile by conducting a Body Composition Analysis to ensure the program suits your body and weight loss goals.  As everyone’s body is different, everyone’s metabolism is unique, causing them to store fat, which, for some, it can be hard for them to burn off this fat.  Measuring more than 2,800 specialized biomarkers, they will be able to find the root cause which keeps your body from burning the fat and will tell you the exact steps needed in order to achieve the weight you desire.

With this information, after the analysis is performed, the center will create a list of doctor-approved foods, listing the proper nutrition/ingredients so you’re able to lose weight.  The program does not use any prepackaged foods, shakes, pharmaceutical drugs or any injections.   One noted you would take a handful of supplements per day and about 800 calories, depending on your meal plan.

Using the program, they claim you will increase your energy, easily control your appetite, experience rapid weight loss, reach your weight goals quickly, and enjoy long-term results.  The center does state you can lose as much as five pounds in your first week and about two weeks per week after; however, your results will greatly vary depending on how well you follow the program.

Burn Fat Orlando reviews

Via Google, the company had more than 130 reviews, with a 4.7 rating; however, digging deeper, many of these reviews came from people with one review in total, often meaning the review should not be deemed valid as these reviews are very easy to manipulate, so do take the Google reviews with a grain of salt.

The BBB had 25 reviews with a 4.2 rating and a B+ rating.  The company did respond to any complaints made by consumers on the page.

Even though they had more than one location, they only had reviews for two of its locations on Yelp:  the Orlando location, which had two reviews for a 3.5 star out of 5 total, and the Apopka location, which has a 2 out of 5 star rating.

Lastly, its official Facebook page had 35+ reviews with a 4.2 average rating.

The cons

Upset that the reviews on the website are biased — not allowing you to leave a less than stellar review on its website.

The calorie consumption – about 600-800 calories a day — were too little and made some feel bad throughout the process.

Never were able to see a physician during the process, even though they claimed you would meet one.   Some people claimed the office was staffed with people who had no healthcare experience or education.

NOTE:  All of these complaints were sourced from the review websites mentioned prior and are not our views.  Your results will, as with any diet center, will vary.

The pros

A fantastic program as long as you followed the plan to a T.  Many did lose 30-40 pounds in 40 days and highly recommend it, despite its high upfront cost.

The staff was very friendly, accommodating and professional.

The program is very easy to follow and you will see results immediately.

Liked not having to take diet pills or prepackaged meals.

Better than expected results, with some able to drop their medications.

Increase in energy levels

Tips to know

The company does offer a 20-pound weight loss guarantee which claims that if you do not lose 20 pounds of weight by the end of the plan, they will allow you to extend the plan for another 20 days or you can start the plan all over again at absolutely no cost.  This guarantee, however, is not a money-back guarantee as refunds will not be possible.

As of 2018, the company has locations in Apopka, Clermont, Sanford, Orlando and Wildwood, Florida.

40 Day Reset Diet Cost

The 40 Day Reset is designed to help you lose 40 pounds in as little as 40 days and has physical offices in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, South Carolina and Florida.

Heard on popular radio station commercials, this personalized diet program helps all genders and body types lose rid of the fat, all in a healthy-hunger-free way.

With this program, according to the website, you use your own food, daily coaching is available and no exercises or cravings occur.

How much does the 40 Day Reset diet cost?

The initial consultation, where the center will show you exactly what your body needs, will measure your body fat, metabolic age and your body’s ideal weight.  Then, with this information, the will show you what needs to be done on your end to meet your goals, your diet plan, the pricing and how long it will take to reach these goals.  According to the official website, the consultation is free and you are able to do so via their booking form.

As for the program, there was very limited information found online, but according to someone who “claimed” to use this actual service, they paid $2,000~ for the first 40 days, but compared to other diet centers, which used a similar approach, the costs were in the $1,500 to $2,100 range.  These costs are unconfirmed, but from our guesstimates, it should be pretty close.  If you did try this diet plan, do let us know in the comments if you tried it out and what you paid.

According to one comment on this YouTube video, someone said they spent a bit over $2,000.

On these BBB reviews, many customers who left a review said they paid $1,800 to $2,100 for the program.

The program – how it works

Its specialized frequency based testing will examine close to 5,000 factors to help reveal which hormonal imbalances, organ dysfunctions and toxins are causing your current weight gain.

Next, with this information, the center creates a customized diet plan that’s able to satisfy your biological needs, listing the foods your body will be able to put into “fat burning” mode.

The difference between this program and other diets is that it offers a food plan designed specifically for your body, a head-to-toe calibration of your body composition and daily coaching to help achieve a happier and healthier lifestyle.  This program does not include temporary solutions nor does it require you to purchase prepackaged foods.

Throughout the 40 days while in the program, a personal coach will support your daily, tracking your progress along the way to help you transform into the person you want to be.  According to Dr. Kevin Hall, the medical director of the Ridgewood location, he said the support and guidance will continue for a year after signing up.

Effectively working with a lot of customers, you can view results of both before and after pictures by visiting this page.

The results

The weight you lose is highly variable on how serious you take the program.  Males, in general, will lose their weight faster than females, from our research, but on average, females lose about 27 pounds in under 40 days, whereas a male will lose about 30 pounds in 40 days.  The greatest success story?  Close to 45 pounds in 40 days.  These figures are confirmed by this NJ.com article that interviewed Dr. Kevin Hall, a medical director at the company.

The picture below was found and embedded via Instagram from the company’s official website:

A post shared by 40DayReset.com (@40dayreset) on

Tips to know

The company, as per its FAQ, does offer a 20-pound guarantee.  This guarantee claims that each client that has more than 20% of excess fat will lose 20 pounds within the first 40 to 50 days.  In the rare case you do not meet this guarantee, they will put you through the program again and make sure the pounds are lost at no additional cost.

The program has helped many diabetics, both type one and type two.

Reviews were very sparse online, but we did find a BBB page with more than 25 reviews, half of which were “complaints.”  According to the complaints, they complained of the no refunds policy, deceptive practices and poor results, but again, these were mixed, so of course, it’s best to use your own judgment.

Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever Cost

The Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, also known as the Toller, Novie or the Little River Duck Dog for short, is a sporting breed dog recognized by the AKC.

Smaller and agiler when compared to a breed of their size, this powerful yet compact body allows them to run around tirelessly, with a tail always wagging.

Developed in the early 19th century in Nova Scotia, this dog was bred to retrieve waterfowl as it was trained to run, jump and play along the shoreline, eventually scaring off ducks into the air due to his or her energy for the hunter to shoot at.   Once killed, the dog would then be sent to retrieve the wounded bird.

How much does a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever cost?

The average price for a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever will depend on many factors, including the breeder you choose, the quality of the puppies, the gender, inclusions and the breeder’s geographical location.  From our research, those looking to buy one should be prepared to spend anywhere from as little as $1,300 for a non-AKC puppy to as much as $2,400 for a high-quality puppy from a reputable AKC breeder.

On the official AKC Marketplace, for example, we found 10 active listings at the time of this publishing, with prices ranging from $1,900 to $2,300 on average; however, due to the demand of these puppies, many breeders had no puppies available.  These breeds, coming from a championship bloodline, would include the necessary AKC registration paperwork, up-to-date vaccinations, DNA tests, a microchip and all health clearance on the parents.

DogBreedPlus.com does note a good breeder will often charge about $1,500, a high price due to the rarity of the breed.  While it is possible, the website states you may be able to find a dog at a rescue or shelter for as little as $50 to $400, but if this were the case, be prepared to adopt an older dog, not a puppy.

CoatDense, medium and water-repellent double coat of a medium length.
EnergyExtremely active as it was originally bred to hunt and owners claim the dog "never" tires out. They love to play fetch with any sort of retrieving tool, diving off docks or playing frisbee.
ExerciseNeeds about 30 to 60 minutes a day of outdoor time and is not suited for smaller living quarters.
Food Consumption2.5 cups a day ($1.25-$1.50/day)
Good with children and other pets?As long as introduced at a younger age, they do quite well but are very wary of strangers. Be forewarned with cats, however as they can have a strong prey drive. Your results will vary.
GroomingVery low in maintenance, requiring an occasional trimming and stripping as they will blow their coat seasonally.
Height17 to 22 inches in height, with females weighing 20% less.
Life Expectancy11 to 14 years
OriginCanada
PersonalityOutgoing, smart, affectionate and is eager to please its owner.
TrainingNot ideal for the first-time dog owner as you will need a lot of patience and discipline.
Weight35 to 55 pounds, depending on the gender.

Appearance

Medium in size, this dog is always at work, never-ending when it comes to running around the yard.  The eyes are slightly oblique, almond in shape and will set apart, with common eye colors including hazel, amber and brown that match and blend in with its coat color.  The nose can either match the coat color or be a solid black.

Its double coat, resistant to water, is medium in length and is soft to the touch.  Mainly straight, some Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers will have a wavy-look on the end of their back and feathery-look on their eyes, legs and the tail.  Often, during the winter months, the coat is denser and curls will begin to fall from the throat.

Coat colors can range from a red-gold tinge to a darker copper-like color, with most having a white marking on the head, feet, chest and/or the tip of the tail.

Tips to know

This breed is known to be susceptible to Addison’s Disease, progressive retinal atrophy, deafness, collie eye anomaly and hip dysplasia.  For this reason, you should ask for an OFA, CERF and hearing tests before adopting from any breeder.

It’s not considered a hypoallergenic breed.

Its drooling tendency, according to PetBreeds.com, is considered to be low.

Since 2013, the breed has been recognized by the AKC.  It’s also recognized by the Australian National Kennel Council, Canadian Kennel Club, Fédération Cynologique Internationale, The Kennel Club, New Zealand Kennel Club and United Kennel Club.

While they are known to have a scary bark, they really are not designed as guard dogs since they often have the personality of a Golden Retriever or Lab.

When excited, they do produce a “scream” like sound, sounding as if the dog was hurt as it is very high pitched and loud.  While only some breeds do this, new owners should be prepared if you do hear this loud and annoying scream that could get you in trouble.

Being a hunting breed, be prepared for a dog that will pull the leash until your arm falls out.  Even with the right training, this dog will do everything from run to climb a tree to get to its goal.

How Much Does the NJ Diet Cost?

The NJ diet is a doctor-supervised “feeding” program where customers are given pre-approved meal plans according to their body needs.

According to the company, it’s targeted to help consumers lose weight faster, in a healthy way, often as many as 45 pounds in 40 days.  They are so confident with this claim that they even offer a money back guarantee in case you do not meet your desired results.

Located in New York and New Jersey, this unique method is designed to promote both a healthy weight loss and improve your overall wellness.

How much does the NJ Diet cost?

For the consultation and evaluation fee alone, the costs reported online are about $30 to $99, but this fee can vary depending on the promotion currently being offered.  For example, at the time of this publishing, you can register on their website and receive a consultation for $27.  During this time, the company will take some tests and explain the costs and what the program can do for you.

As for the exact diet program, if you were to sign up, the costs generally start at $1,500 to $2,100 for the first 40 days, according to the reviewers on this Yelp page, but according to one comment from a doctor who works there, the costs can range from $500 to $1,900, according to your specific needs.

How the program works

Before you start the program, the company will genetically scan your hair and take a saliva sample in order to understand how your body works. This scan will look at your weight, body fat, body water, visceral fat rating, muscle mass, bone mass, metabolic age, basic metabolic age, daily caloric intake, along with a number of other factors.  A bioenergetic balancing scan, also performed at this time, will also be performed to help customized a specific diet plan just for your needs.  This test, according to the company, will examine more than 2,000 biomarkers.

Every 10 to 15 days, the center will monitor your progress, particularly your hormonal balancing.

Being supervised by both a nutritionist and physician, these results will help determine which meal plans and supplements you need in order to see desirable results.  These hormone healing diet plans will greatly vary, depending on your body composition, and will help regulate your appetite, metabolism, energy and fat storage.

After these tests, clients are then given a customized diet plan with a personalized calorie count, which will consist of approved foods and supplements that will work for your body.  These diet plans, from what we read, will make you avoid cooking with oil, butter or PAM-like ingredients.  Some also said they had to give up salad dressings, potatoes, and bread, but again, this would greatly vary depending on your customized plan.  The “about us” section noted you will be offered 10 different eating tools which will allow you to know how to eat.

According to Dr. Arthur Turovets, patients will not be hungry because the body will be burning anywhere from 2,000 to 7,000 calories of toxic fats for fuel as the supplements get into the body to burn a lot of body fat.  Since all of the toxins are stored as fat, you will not see any fat loss until the hormones are balanced first.

In general, if you follow this program, most clients, from the reviews we read online, will see results in about 30 to 40 days.

The reviews online were rather limited, but according to the Yelp page we referenced earlier, close to 45+ reviewers gave the Clifton, New Jersey location a 4.5 out of 5 star review.  Most of the positive reviews stated it really works as long as you follow the program, while the few negative reviews claimed they gained the weight back after the program, the price was too high and some said the advertising was deceptive.

Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement Cost

The ignition lock cylinder, separate from the ignition switch, is simply the part the key fits into, and depending on your car setup, this part may be a separate component or designed as a single unit with an electronic ignition switch, which is a part designed to power the starter motor in order to start the engine.

If this part were to fail, the key either will not turn, due to the cylinders inside not shifting into position, or the cylinder, as the key is turning, will turn along with it, most often due to the tumblers inside being stripped.

The reported ignition lock cylinder replacement costs

The costs of replacing an ignition lock cylinder will greatly depend on the vehicle you’re driving, the mechanic/dealership you use and the geographical location.  As for just the part, the costs can range from as little as $35 for a basic aftermarket ignition lock cylinder to as much as $450 for a “smart” lock cylinder, which is designed for an anti-theft system.  To get an idea of just the parts, as it can vary with your vehicle’s make and model, AutoZone has a list of more than 600 parts you can browse to see what the part itself can cost.

As for the labor, the process is often straightforward and will only take a trained mechanic about one to two hours to complete the job, meaining, the labor rates, depending on your locality, can range from $65 to more than $200.  In total, be prepared to spend about $275 to $500 for both the parts and professional labor.  In some cases, a locksmith may be able to resolve the problem for less than $150 in most scenarios.

In some cases, however, albeit rare, there are circumstances where the airbags and/or anti-theft devices need to be removed in order to install the new ignition lock cylinder as this is a process often seen in your higher-end vehicles such as BMW and Porsche.  In this case, the labor costs could greatly increase, often to as much as $750+, but again, if you’re not driving a luxury vehicle, then this isn’t an estimate you will probably see.  In some cases, if the vehicle has an anti-theft device, certain tools may need to be used or else the car may be considered inoperable.

The repair process

To confirm the ignition lock cylinder is, indeed, the culprit, the mechanic will first want to use the key to see how it interacts with the ignition lock cylinder.  By inserting and removing the key, this will tell the mechanic which parts will be needed to be replaced.

Depending on how the switch failed, the repair can either be straightforward and relatively easy or it can become quite complex.  If, for instance, the entire ignition switch and lock cylinder are one part, then the replacement process can be hard in case of a failure.  However, if the cylinder works, then the switch itself will not be that hard to remove.

To start, the battery will be disconnected and the steering column bolts will be removed in order to access the ignition lock cylinder.

Removing the steering column cover, the ignition lock cylinder cover, either made of metal or plastic, will be removed, followed by the entire part.  The removal process will vary depending on the individual manufacturer.

Next, the cylinder will be removed from the housing by inserting the key and unlocking the steering wheel, which allows the mechanic to free it from the vehicle.

Once in hand, the top of the ignition lock assembly will be unscrewed and the new part, again, depending on the manufacturer, will be installed.

When the new lock cylinder is installed, it will be installed back onto the vehicle in reverse order, and the mechanic will reconnect the battery, check for any error codes and start the car to make sure the problem resolved itself.

How does this part work?

When the correct key is inserted, the lock sensor, located inside of the cylinder, will allow the small actuators to rotate, effectively starting the car.  In most cars, as long as the car is either in the park or neutral position, the ignition switch will remain locked and is done so in a way to prevent the car from starting in a harmful manner.

Symptoms of a poor ignition lock cylinder

When the part fails, you will either have to wiggle the key excessively or shake it before the car starts.

In some cases, the key can be removed, even when the car is in the start position or the ignition can run no matter what, even with the key removed.  RepairPal.com notes, in this case, the repair can be much easier as the cylinder can simply be removed without having to remove the entire steering column.

A faulty ignition lock cylinder can also keep your key, not allowing you to remove it from the cylinder or you may be unable to insert the key fully.

How Much Does Bosley Really Cost?

You’re probably familiar with the name Bosley, seeing they heavily advertise on multiple media outlets.

Not known to be your ordinary hair loss product, Bosley is an actual hair transplant procedure which takes hair from the sides and back of your scalps and moves it to the areas where you’re lacking and losing your natural hair.

Being in the business of helping men and women restore their natural look, this company has been in business since 1974 after being founded by L. Lee Bosley.

How much does Bosley hair restoration cost?

The cost of Bosley hair restoration is going to greatly depend on each client as every patient will experience a certain amount of hair loss, meaning someone could pay three times more than another, simply based on the amount of hair that needs to be transplanted.  The factors, as per their FAQ, will depend on the amount of hair loss you have experienced so far, the amount of donor hair that is available, the donor hair characteristics and your goals.  From what we researched, however, it would depend a lot of your geographical region as some people had the same amount of grafts but paid much more than another.

According to their official website, the average patient at one of their centers pay anywhere between $4,000 to $16,000 and is based on the unique treatment recommendation referred by their physician.  To get the most accurate quote, the company highly recommends you take advantage of one of their free consultations to learn about the benefits of the restoration, the associated cost and payment plans available if you wanted to take advantage of one.  It’s important to note that while the quotes may be higher than what you imagine, they do assure you that these costs are high because their process is a surgical procedure, not a temporary wig or hair system.

Online, we were able to find quite a few people who shared their costs online, with the prices varying all over the place based on the number of grafts needed.  To make things easier to skim, we included the quotes we had found in the table below:

Prices reported online...
Someone in Atlanta paid $8,000 for the first 1,000 grafts, $5,000 for the second 1,000 grafts for total of $13,000

Highya.com notes the average transplantation ranges anywhere from $4,000 and $12,000, but one of their sources said the average cost is closer to $10,000 and $20,000, and this fee would include a $500 to $1,000 “room reservation fee.”  Also, if you live more than 100 miles from a clinic, you may qualify for free grafts in order to make up for your travel expenses.

The procedure

In most cases, the center will recommend setting aside most of your day as the procedure will start early in the morning and can take up to eight hours to complete, depending on the number of grafts needed.  Like any doctor’s appointment, you will be asked to fill out all of the necessary medical paperwork ahead of time before the process can start.

Before the procedure even begins, the Bosley team will first want to create a personalized plan to help meet your desired result by identifying the areas they will work with to create the most natural look possible.  Next, trimming your donor area hair, they will remove the necessary number of strong, healthy donor hairs in order to move it into the desired spot.

Using the FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) procedure, this proven, minimally invasive outpatient procedure will remove a number of hair follicles from your “donor” areas, restoring it in your thinning areas.  According to the official website, the Bosley FUE procedure is performed by and under the supervision of a Bosley physician.  No stitches are required, it offers a natural look and most patients recover fast, often in as little as going to work the next day.

During the procedure, a tiny instrument, often less than one-millimeter in diameter, will be used to remove individual hair follicles from the donor area on your scalp.  While the device is doing so, it will create an incision around the follicle in order to isolate the graft.  Then, the graft is extracted from the scalp using a tweezer-like instrument and is prepared for placement in the affected area.  Working with microscopes, a technician will arrange the desired amount of follicles to create a natural-looking result.

The grafts will be strategically placed in order to match your hair growth pattern, one by one, in order to maximize the naturalness, coverage and density look.  The incisions, once created, will heal in less than a few days and about 90 days after the procedure was performed, most clients will see new hair growth.  At the six month mark, the transplanted hair should start to appear thicker and will continue, from there, to grow naturally.

Tips to know

Bosley Medical will offer a free consultation for all first-time customers and in some cases, you may be able to take advantage of a free gift such as a gift card you can apply to your final total.

Don’t worry about the high costs as the clinic has ties with financing groups, such as Care Credit.  Many online have reported being able to take advantage of zero percent interest, 24-month financing options.

The average patient will need anywhere from a few hundred to more than a few thousand grafts, again, all depending on your expectations.  Most people will need at least two procedures to see desired results.

Bosley reviews – does it work?

We didn’t find too much in terms of reviews online, but we did find one clinic located in Beverly Hills, California, which had a 4 out 5 star rating on Yelp, with more than 38 reviews.   On PissedConsumer, even though most people go here to complain, close to 50 reviewers gave the company a 1.9 out of five-star rating.

On this BBB rating for the Beverly Hills, California, location, it had a B+ rating, with 15 total closed complaints mostly related to either sales/advertising issues or problems with the service.

A lot of the negative reviews, from what we read, was due to either the extensive scarring after the procedure was done or the intense procedure.

German Shepherd Husky Mix Cost

The German Shepherd Husky Mix, also known as the Gerberian Shepsky in the dog breeding world, is a mix of the German Shepherd and the Siberian Husky.  As a mix, this isn’t considered a purebred, but rather, a “designer” mixed breed.

Recognized by both the Dog Registry of America and the American Canine Hybrid Club, this mixed breed, as with any mixed breed, will receive its traits from either one its parents, making no two Gerberian Shepsky puppies the same.

Standing about 26 inches tall and weighing up to 85 pounds, this mixed breed is bound to draw attention when out for a walk.

The reported German Shepherd Husky mix prices

The cost of a German Shepherd Husky will greatly depend on the breeder you choose, their geographical location, the quality, its genetics and the dog’s age.  From our research, seeing it’s a “mixed” breed and not recognized by the popular registries, such as the AKC, the costs would be much lower than that of adopting a purebred German Shepherd or Husky.  To budget, we recommend spending at least $350 to $850 for a puppy around six to eight weeks from a reputable breeder who includes all of the necessary paperwork for adoption.

LancasterPuppies.com, an online dog classified website, had about 40+ active listings at the time of this publishing, with prices ranging from $500 to $900.

The look and size

Weighing about 65 to 85 pounds and measuring 20 to 32 inches tall, females, on average, will be about 20% smaller than their male counterparts, with puppies maturing at 18 to 24 months.  With a mixed breed, it can be hard to determine the exact look as the genetic makeup will vary, but for the most part, the head will be medium in size, with almond-shaped eyes and a lean body built for power.

Coat colors range from a black and tan mix to a white, cream and/or gray blend, often resembling a “wolf” look.

As with any mixed breed, it’s unpredictable on which traits the puppy will inherit from its parents, meaning its temperament, size, coat and working instincts will be so different.

The coat is often thicker, fluffier and can either be short, dense and/or medium in length, depending on the parent genetics.

German ShepherdSiberian Husky
Originated in Germany and is a medium to large-sized working dog. It's the second most popular dog breed, equipped with a domed shaped face, square-cut muzzle and extremely strong jaws.Originating in north-eastern Siberia, the breed belongs to the Spitz genetic family.
Stands 23-26 inches tall, with females measuring slightly less.Stands 18 to 24 inches tall, with females measuring slightly less.

Temperament

As mentioned, it’s hard to say exactly how a German Shepherd Husky mix will act as they will either receive some of its genes from its German Sheperd or Husky parent.

A Husky, for example, is known to be very friendly, calm and gentle for its owners, often leery of strangers, taking quite some time to warm up, while a German Shepherd is often considered to be more hyper, active and a lot more alert, being a lot more protective than that of a Husky.  Both dogs are considered to be hardworking as this is due to their ancestry and will always want to please their owner, regardless of what it takes.

Regardless of the breed mix, a puppy should be well socialized and trained at a young age to avoid troubles in the future.  This mix is known to be intelligent and hardworking, showing traits from both sides of their parents.  Learning commands very quickly, even with minimal training, these dogs are known to be natural pack leaders and are often considered demanding, bossy and at times, a pinch stubborn.  If you avoid training, you could find yourself with a very hard to control dog in the future.

Grooming

Again, based on the genetics, the grooming will vary.  A German Shepherd or Husky isn’t known to be a heavy shedder as it will shed very little in comparison to other breeds, depending on the season.  To prepare, experts will warn it’s between a heavy and minimal shedder, making it a “moderate” shedder when the seasons are changing.

Seeing both parents have a double, dense coat, it should be brushed at least two times per week to avoid matting and tangling, and if at all possible, a professional grooming session at least once a month.

Tips to know

A German Shepherd Husky is known to be a very active breed, meaning it will not be suitable for an apartment or condo-like setting.  This dog tends to do best in a large, fenced-in yard where it can roam freely and stretch its legs by running from one side to the next.  While a cool climate is ideal, if your dog lives in a warmer-than-average climate, then shade and water should be left out at all time and their outside time during the warmer months should be very limited.

The average lifespan, combining the two breeds, can be anywhere between 10 to 15 years.  Their lifespan greatly depends on the dog’s genetics and lifestyle.

Any dog is susceptible to certain ailments/health issues, with this mix, in particular, being prone to hip dysplasia, cataracts, blood disorders, epilepsy, allergies, Von Willebrand’s disease and/or eczema.

These dogs are known to be very hardworking and if left at home for a long period of time, they may start to excessively bark and/or become bored, often biting, chewing or destroying anything in sight.

Being active, these dogs can escape just about any unsecured backyard, even if you have a fence installed.  Known to be very curious, it’s important your fence is buried at least six to eight inches below the ground to prevent their escape since they are known to dig excessively.

Heterochromia, a unique condition found in both a Husky and German Shepherd, results in two different eye colors, and this breed has been spotted with this trait.

They make great exercise partners and walk miles without tiring out.  For this reason, it’s preferred you take the dog out for a walk at least twice a day for 30 minutes each.

History

There’s not too much in terms of how this dog originated, but, according to Dogmal.com, it appeared to be intentionally bred in the early 1980s when hybrid dogs were becoming popular.
