How much does a washer dryer combo cost?

Depending on the size, capacity, brand and condition the average cost of a new washer dryer combo is going to range anywhere from as little as $800 to as much as $1,800.  Generally, the larger the unit is and the more features it has, the higher the price is going to be.  For example, LG has a washer/dryer combination with the largest capacity, the greatest number of cycles and many features other brands don’t offer.  This particular model tends to be closer to $1,800, whereas a basic, smaller unit with fewer features and cycles can cost less than $1,000.

At Best Buy, for instance, the highly rated models range anywhere from $900 to more than $1,700.

Home Depot, at the time of this writing, had 16 options available on its official website, with prices ranging from as little as $880 to $1,700.

The highest rated combinations on Amazon.com retail for $995 to $1,800.

A portable mini washer dryer combination, often designed for an RV, can be much cheaper, often retailing for $90 to $300.

For example, at Walmart, a nine-pound mini portable washer and dryer retail for $100.

BrandAverage Price (new)
Deco$880 to $1,100
Equator$1,000 to $1,800
Haier$1,000 to $1,200
LG Electronics$1,400 to $1,800

Washer dryer combo overview

Most machines will be 27 to 35 inches wide and can either hook up to your washing machine hookup or if it’s a portable unit, then the hose can plug directly into a sink.

Capacities range from 1.6 to 4.3 cubic feet, with the average less than two cubic feet, making it one-third the size of a traditional washing drum.  LG, at the moment, is the only manufacturer that has a full-size combo.

Almost all washer/dryer combinations will have a front loading design, allowing for easier access.

Many washer dryer-all-in-one combinations are ventless and portable, making them ideal for smaller spaces such as an apartment, RV or an area with a tighter-than-average space.  But those designed for household use will look no different than the traditional front load washer or dryer.

Compared to traditional washer and dryers, these combos often have the same features, including digital controls, childproof locks, various washing/drying cycles, steam technology and low noise operations.

What are the extra costs?

If purchasing online or from a local retailer, delivery and/or installation fees may apply.  This will depend on the store’s policy, but in some cases, they may waive this fee if you spend a certain amount.  Even if the delivery is free, most retailers will want you to purchase new hose connectors, adding $15 to $25 to the total estimate.

While optional, some users opt to purchase a pedestal that the washer and dryer can sit on.  This drawer can be used to store detergent or raise the unit to a comfortable height.  A pedestal can cost an additional $100 to $300, depending on the brand.

How can I save money?

Like any appliance, consider either purchase a gently used unit online or even look for a refurbished appliance retailer in your area.

How Much Does a Urologist Visit Cost?

Urologists help diagnose and treat the male and female reproductive system, particularly the kidneys, adrenal glands, urethra, bladder and reproductive organs.  They are also trained in the surgical and medical treatment of diseases that affect these organs.

If you need to visit one soon, you will find the prices will be all over the place, depending on a few factors.

How much does a urologist visit cost?

Without insurance, plan on budgeting anywhere from as little as $200 to as much as $550+ for a simple first-time consultation with a urologist, with the nationwide average at $260.  If you were an established patient, then the costs could be half this amount.   This price, however, will not include other services, if required, such as lab tests or treatment.  The costs will depend on the type of visit, if additional tests are needed, the doctor and geographical location.

Dr. James G. Knight, MD, for example, lists his prices on his official website.  A standard consult can cost $183, whereas a cash discount can bring the costs down to $91 for just the visit.  Other procedures, as he lists on his website, can range anywhere from as little as $3 for a urinalysis to as much as $3.400+ for an extensive prostate surgery.

Urologist visit overview

During a visit, your urologist will almost always request a urine specimen before the consult, and just like any other doctor’s visit, you will also be asked to fill out paperwork regarding your ailment and provide a staff member with a detailed health history.

During the exam, the urologist will concentrate on your genitourinary system and evaluate other systems based on your symptoms.  He or she will also perform a genital exam and digital rectal exam to assess the prostate.  After this exam, depending on his or her findings, they will discuss a treatment plan to determine the root of the issue.  This may include a blood count test, PSA test and/or an imaging scan, all of which won’t be included in the estimates.  These tests will, again, depending on the findings and can greatly vary.

What are the extra costs?

The prices mentioned above only include an initial consultation without any sort of additional testing and are a slim part of the budget if you were to have an ailment.  These prices will not include any medication, scans, surgeries and/or laboratory expenses; therefore, if any additional tests were required, it could add hundreds or even thousands of dollars to the estimates mentioned above.   Popular tests often considered during a visit may include a urinalysis, cystoscopy, uroflowmetry test or biopsy.

In some cases, a urologist may recommend a cystoscopy to examine the bladder and urethra.  This procedure is often done at a third party ambulatory center outside of the urologist office.

How can I save money?

Talk with a urologist over the phone ahead of time to see what they can do for you.  Most offices will be more than happy to give you a ballpark estimate over the phone, and while you don’t want to focus on the price tag, you will want to pay close attention to their reputation, experience and their affiliation with hospitals.

If you have health insurance,  they will more than likely cover just about every procedure a urologist performs as long as it’s medically necessary.  Always talk with your health insurance provider ahead of time to be certain the urologist you’re using is covered by your policy.  For those looking for a new policy, consider browsing through hundreds for free at eHealthInsurance.com.

If you do not have health insurance, you can always ask your Urologist for a discount by paying in either cash or even by a credit card.  Most offices are more than willing to negotiate on the final price.

New York Urology Specialists offers some helpful cost saving advice.  For example, ask for generic medication instead of the name branded alternative.  If at all possible, try to use a non-hospital affiliated outpatient testing center for any lab work.

How Much Does Urodynamic Testing Cost?

A urodynamic study, commonly referred to as a UDS, will test your bladder, the muscles around your bladder and the urethra to help determine urinary problems such as difficulty passing urine.

This study will be considered if all other tests are inconclusive or these treatments have failed, and ultimately, it will help determine why your muscles are squeezing or if your bladder’s capacity is normal.

How much does urodynamic testing cost?

The cost of a test will depend on the choice of tests, the doctor and the type of incontinence.  Since it isn’t a single test, but a group, the costs will greatly vary depending on the combination being used.  The costs, from what we researched, could range anywhere from as little as $350 to more than $1,200 without insurance.  Those who had health insurance found their private health insurance company would cover 50 to 70 percent of the costs.

According to the ModernMedicine Network, they claimed urodynamic tests can add significant cost in an uncomplicated stress urinary incontinence.  The costs, which had chosen 630 women, considered the costs of this test only.  According to their findings, the total costs of a patient with Medicare coverage, depending on the study site, ranged from $350 to $375, while a private insurance company had paid anywhere from $600 to $1,000.

Urodynamic testing overview

The test, which can last up to 30 minutes, often done in the x-ray room of a doctor’s office, involves three small catheters that are inserted into your urethra and either the vagina or rectum.  Before these catheters are inserted, however, you will need to empty your bladder into what’s known as a flowmeter, a device to help measure the urine you pass.

Next, an ultrasound will be performed to see how empty the bladder is.  While lying down, two thin catheters are inserted into your bladder — one is used to fill up your bladder and the other will be used to measure the pressure.  A third catheter will be inserted into either your rectum or vagina to compare the pressure outside of your bladder.  Once in the correct position, fluids will pass through the first catheter to fill your bladder while recordings are being made.  During this time, you will answer questions in regards to how you feel during the test.

After the study/test, you will be able to leave the doctor’s office/hospital right away, and in most cases, your results will be available immediately.

As for the results, an abnormal result may be found if more than a normal amount of fluid remains in the bladder, even after urinating or when the bladder contains less fluid than what is considered normal when you have the urge to urinate.

The test, when everything is done, can take two to three hours to complete.

What are the extra costs?

All situations will be different, and because of this, your doctor may recommend additional testing to help determine the root of the issue.  These additional tests may include blood tests, scans and/or x-rays.  All of which won’t be included in the estimates mentioned above.

Depending on the results, your doctor will more than likely recommend a treatment course of action to help resolve your bladder-related problem.

Tips to know:

If you are taking any medication, your doctor may advise you stop taking it for up to a week prior to the test.

The side effects of a urodynamic test, while deemed generally safe, can still exist.  You may experience some discomfort where the catheter was inserted or a mild sensation while urinating.  One in 100 women will also develop a urinary tract infection after the test, but can be prevented if you drink a lot of fluids 24 to 48 hours after.

How can I save money?

If at all possible, avoid using a hospital and highly consider using either a freestanding medical facility or doctor’s office.

Always check with your health insurance company before booking an appointment.  As long as it’s deemed medically necessary, your insurance will cover it and you will only be responsible for your co-pays/deductibles.

How Much Does a Urine Culture Cost?

A urinary culture is used to determine whether or not you are suffering from a urinary tract infection and is ordered when there’s either a strong smell during urination or a burning sensation while urinating.  The test can also be used during a routine checkup during pregnancy to screen for bacteria.

How much does a urine culture test cost?

In most cases, the test can be done via an online lab or at a family doctor’s office.  The test alone can cost $15 to $55 without insurance, but this won’t include the doctor’s office fee if you were to have it done at a local doctor’s office.

The Healthcare Bluebook says a fair price is $22, but the costs could be in the $17 to $55+ range.

MDSave.com says the national average is $48, but the regular price ranges can be anywhere from $13 to $64.

Urine culture test overview

A urine culture will be used to determine if you’re suffering from a urinary tract infection and will help a physician determine which antibiotics you’re responsive to by testing the levels of bacteria in the urine.

If you do test positive, which is higher than 100,000 CFL/mL, the report will show which antibiotics should be used to help cure the infection.  A range of 1,000 to 100,000 CFU (colony forming units) per milliliter can be considered as a normal result, but the numbers in this range could sometimes mean symptoms are present.  Test results, most of the time, will take 24 to 72 business hours to see results.

What are the extra costs?

As mentioned, if the test needs to be completed at a doctor’s office, then this could add another $50 to $125+ for the office visit fee.

If you do test positive for a UTI, then your doctor will prescribe a drug/prescription to treat your infection.  Most infections can easily be treated; however, if the infection were to spread to the bloodstream or kidneys, additional tests would be required.

Depending on your situation, a doctor may recommend a follow-up visit to check up on your progress.

A single culture, according to WalkinLab.com, is 80 percent accurate, but with two cultures containing the same organisms with a count of 105 or more represent a 95 percent chance of true bacteriuria;.

Tips to know:

Doctors recommend taking this test first thing in the morning as your urine is more concentrated, but in most cases, the time of collection usually isn’t important.

Women are more susceptible to a UTI because the female urethra is shorter and closer to the anus, making it easier for the bacteria from the intestines to come into contact with the urethra.

How can I save money?

Be sure to check with your health insurance policy since most policies may cover this type of test, and as long as medically necessary, you will only be responsible for the co-pays and deductible.

How Much Does a Urinalysis Cost?

A urinalysis, a test of your urine, is commonly ordered to help physicians diagnose disorders related to the kidneys, detect other underlying problems in the blood, test for traces of illicit drugs in the urine or even to detect a possible pregnancy.

This test, in general, will be ordered if the physician feels you have a urinary tract infection (UTI), kidney disease, there’s blood in the urine, for a metabolic condition or if you’re frequently urinating.

How much does a urinalysis test cost?

The cost of a urinalysis will depend on where you’re taking the test, if you have insurance, the type of test and geographical location.  Without any doctor office fees, the cost of the test can be anywhere from $5 to $30.  However, if the depth of the panel were to include advanced tests, such as a blood panel, then the costs could be as high as $50 to $250+ without insurance.

The Blue Cross Blue Shield stated the most commonly used diagnostic test, such as a urinalysis, should cost $5 to $15.

If you were to take the test via an online lab, the costs could range from as little as $20 for a routine urinalysis with a microscopic examination to as much as $100 when the urinalysis is combined with a blood panel.  If you were to take the test online, you would have to visit an authorized third party lab the website works with to submit your sample.  From there, that lab would ship off your sample to the online lab you used.  Once the results complete, you would receive the results either via email and/or mail, depending on the lab’s policy.

Urinalysis test overview

A urinalysis is an effective screening tool designed to uncover many ailments.  A basic urinalysis, as estimated above, will determine if the kidneys are functioning the way they should be.  The test can also expose a range of health concern indicators such as diagnosing diabetes, liver issues and other metabolic conditions.

The test is fairly straightforward, and you can either take the test at home or at a doctor’s office.  On average, you will need one to two ounces to provide an adequate sample. Your doctor’s office will provide a small container, and depending on the circumstances, you may be asked to urinate the first thing in the morning since this is when it’s the most concentrated.  If unable to deliver within 60 minutes, you will be asked to refrigerate the sample.

As for the results, it can be done in three ways:  either via a visual exam, a dipstick test or microscopic exam.  When done visually, a technician will simply glance at your urine.  If it’s cloudy or has an unusual order, then it may indicate a problem.  A dipstick test uses a plastic stick with chemicals on it, which is then placed inside the urine to detect any abnormalities.  If the chemicals on the stick change colors, then it means certain levels are above normal.  Lastly, a microscopic exam will view the urine under a microscope to examine the white blood cells, red blood cells, bacteria, casts and crystals.

What are the extra costs?

In some cases, some physicians may need advanced urine tests aside from a routine test.  For example, a magnesium urine test, which is designed to measure the amount of magnesium in your urine, could cost three times more.

As mentioned, the costs above will be for the test only and won’t include the doctor’s office visit fee if you were to have the test done at a local doctor’s office.  Without insurance, the average doctor’s visit can cost $50 to $125+

Additional tests may be required outside of the urinalysis if the results came back normal.  For example, if your urine protein levels were at an unhealthy level, then your doctor would want to run more tests, such as a creatinine test, to closely examine your kidneys.

Tips to know:

According to JustDoc.com, a test showing positive proteins is abnormal and significant, which means the doctor will want to closely examine the kidneys further.  Also, a test showing positive sugar or ketones is also considered to be abnormal and significant, often a parameter increasing the chances of diabetes.

Many prescription drugs can affect the results of the test, so be sure to talk to your doctor ahead of time to let him or her know which medications and/or supplements you’re taking.

How can I save money?

Take advantage of your insurance policy.  This procedure, if ordered by a doctor, should be covered as long as medically necessary.  If you’re looking for a new policy, consider browsing through hundreds of policies on eHealthInsurance.com.

While it shouldn’t be used as a medical alternative, there are urinary tract infection test strips on Amazon for less than $15 for 120 strips.  If you tend to get UTI symptoms quite often, then it may be ideal to stock up on these strips to help you determine if you have one.

How Much Does a Ureteroscopy Cost?

A ureteroscopy refers to the medical procedure where the upper urinary tract is checked for irregularities.  This process is also interchangeably known as a cystoscopy and is commonly done to look for and/or remove kidney stones.

The ureteroscopy process involves using a ureteroscope, which enters the urethra through the bladder and into one of the ureters.  The ureteroscope is used to view the walls of the urinary tract to detect any abnormalities and break up some kidney stones if identified.

The procedure may be done solely to check for abnormalities, but most of the time, it involves removing kidney stones trapped in the lower part of the ureters

How much does a ureteroscopy cost?

Without any sort of insurance, the costs of a ureteroscopy can vary anywhere from $500 to as much as $3,000. The costs will depend on the treatment method, the technology being used, the specialist, the health of the patient and facility/hospital being used.

Consultant360.com says the procedure can cost $2,695 on average and has a 10 to 20 percent complication rate.

According to Medsolution.com, the cost of the entire ureteroscopy procedure when performed in the United States is around $2,700.  This fee should cover the hospital stay.

Knighturology.com states the procedure can range anywhere from $600 to $1,100.  However, if everything is paid in cash up front, this price can be as little as $300 to $530.

For those who have a health insurance plan, be sure to check with your provider as you should only be responsible for your co-pay and deductible.  If you need a policy or are thinking about switching,  eHealthInsurance.com lets you browse through hundreds of policies for free.  If this test is ordered by a doctor and is deemed medically necessary, it should be covered under your health insurance without a question.

Ureteroscopy overview

During the procedure, commonly done by a urologist, a long, rigid ureteroscope is inserted through the bladder toward the kidney.  Once inside, a small camera will be able to capture images and display the results for the doctor.  To remove the kidney stone, it will be done either by using forceps, a laser or what’s known as a “basket,” a tool that’s able to grab the stone.  If the stone is smaller, then it can be removed in one piece; however, it’s larger, then it may have to be broken up.  Most urologists prefer to remove the stone via a laser.

This process is done under a general anesthesia and is considered an outpatient procedure, meaning you can go home the same day.  Unless there are other complications or abnormalities that need to be addressed, a hospital stay will not be required.  Even so, a hospital stay shouldn’t last longer than 24 to 408 hours.

The procedure usually takes less than an hour.

What are the extra costs?

After the procedure, your doctor may recommend medication to help numb the burning sensation you may feel.

Tips to know:

Risks, according to WebMD, may include an injury to the ureter, urinary tract infection, bleeding or abnormal pain.

How can I save money?

Take advantage of your health insurance and get the most out of it; however, before making your appointment, make sure you talk with your health insurance company first to make sure you’re covered.  You should only be responsible for your co-pay and deductibles, again, as long as medically necessary.

If you do not have an insurance policy, be sure to check with the doctor’s office or facility’s finance department to see if any cash discounts are available.  Even if you cannot pay for the procedure up front, many are able to put you on a finance plan.  If you can pay cash up front, you can usually haggle up to a 50% discount.

How much does star fruit cost per pound?

On average, a star fruit is going to cost anywhere from $2 to as much as $6 per pound.  The costs will depend on the type of year and where you purchase it.

Amazon.com, for example, have a few sellers who offer star fruit when it’s in season.  The prices, according to the listings, ranges anywhere from $6 to $9 per pound.

What is going to be included?

The taste of a star fruit closely resembles the plum, lemon and pineapple and is known for its “tangy” flavor.  It’s full of dietary fiber, vitamins A, B, C and antioxidants.

While most of your big box grocery stores won’t carry this fruit, you will either have to purchase it online or at a local Asian imported market.  Whole Foods, if the fruit is in season, has been said to carry this fruit as well.  In the United States, most star fruits will import from either the United States or Taiwan.

What are the extra costs?

Since it can be hard to find at a local retailer, you may have to resort to purchasing online.  If you don’t meet the company’s recommended minimum spending requirements, then you may have to spend a small shipping fee.

Tips to know:

The star fruit acquired its name because of its five-pointed star shape.

When the fruit is cut through the middle, it will have a waxy, yellow color.

The star fruit will be in season during the early summer.

The whole fruit is edible except for the chewy seed part in the middle.

If purchasing online, try to buy a fruit that originated from a tropical country for a better taste.

A star fruit has many benefits.  For example, they can lower your cholesterol levels as well as cure headaches, ringworm and even chickenpox. It is also a cure for hangovers and sore eyes.

If purchasing locally, always choose the shiny yellow ones that are not too soft without bruises.  The ideal time to buy the star fruit is when it has little to no green and the edges are slightly brown

Star fruit is also recommended for those people who are dieting because of its low-calorie content and high fiber.

Keep it refrigerated for up to a week inside an airtight container.  It can be stored at room temperature for up to five days. Slices can also be frozen to preserve its freshness.

How to cut and peel star fruit

Using a sharp butcher knife, slide the blade along the green edges of the star fruit, being careful to only remove the non-orange edge.

Once the edges are removed, slice off the two ends and only remove about a half of an inch, but not too much.  At this point, your fruit should have no more green or brown areas left.

Next, slice the trimmed starfruit across the broad side into star shapes about one-fourth to a half inch thick

You’ll notice that your slices have seeds in them, mostly in the middle pieces.  These should be removed with the tip of the knife.

CamperFinds.com has ads that range anywhere from $2,500 for a 2003 16 footer to as much as $10,000 for a 2009 13 footer.  These are the prices for used scamp trailers, and if you were to click the link, you can glance at the average used priced based on your geographical region.  This company was founded in 1972, so the years will range anywhere from the early 70s until now.  Most ads on the internet, however, are typically from the 1990s and 2000s.

One member on FiberglassRV.com said he was quoted about $15,500 after all the options he wanted were included.

Scamp trailer overview

Common sizes are going to include 13, 15 (older models), 16 and 19 feet long, which is measured from the end of the tongue to the rear bumper, meaning the length inside is shorter than the specified length.

Unlike traditional travel trailers, Scamp trailers are built with fuel costs in mind.  They are designed to be towed by trucks, vans and SUVs due to the lighter weight and the aerodynamic design.  Weights can range from 1,200 to 2,800 pounds, depending on the size.

Floor plans, depending on the size, will typically include a table that converts to a bed, different storage options, a small kitchen, bathroom, shower, closet and a sofa that converts into a bunk bed.  Other basic specifications, according to the brochure, includes propane tanks, awning, TV hookup, 120v outlets, water tank, water heater, propane stove, roof vent, curtains, sink, electric brakes, electric supply cord and a spare tire.

Premium options, just like an RV, can include a variety of add-ons, including upgrading the air conditioner, appliances, entertainment options, generators, jacks, batteries, awning, electronics, paint, window awnings and more.

What are the extra costs?

If your current vehicle does not already have a hitch, this can result in additional fees.  SEE: “How much does a hitch installation cost?”  Check the specs of your vehicle to ensure that it is capable of towing something this size.

It may be possible to ask the seller to deliver a scamp trailer to your home, but you should prepare yourself for the additional fee that he/she may charge you.  If you buy new, most dealers, especially if you purchased locally, will deliver for free.

Even though the scamp trailer is designed with fuel efficiency in mind, you will still see a rise in fuel consumption when pulling a scamp trailer.

While optional, you may want to consider storing your scamp trailer during the winter months rather than leaving it outside in the elements.  This storage will be an extra cost, but it may also help keep the trailer in good condition.

Tips to know:

Make sure that you know what your SUV or truck can handle when it comes to towing.  It is advisable to consider a lightweight class because cars with lightweight scamp trailers can drive much easier than cars with heavy trailers. Heavy trailers can also decrease your speed and make it hard to break.

How can I save money?

Buying a used scamp trailer online can help you save money because some sellers offer lower rates compared to purchasing it directly from the factory.  However, if you are going to purchase online, it is so important that you view it in person to make sure everything is in working order.

Like purchasing a car, prices are never set in stone.  Never be afraid to haggle.

How much does a Rottweiler cost?

Depending on the dog’s bloodline, titles, age, quality, the breeder, inclusions with the adoption and geographical location, the cost of a Rottweiler puppy can range anywhere from as little as $500 to as much as $2,500+.  A show quality AKC bred Rottweiler will cost about $1,500 to $2,500, whereas a backyard breeder with no paperwork could charge $450 to $750.  Albeit rare, if you’re able to find a Rottweiler imported from Germany, the costs can well exceed $4,000 if it had the appropriate paperwork.  A “pet quality” dog often means the dog will have faults, such as a coat insufficient for a dog show, and a “show quality” dog will have non-detectable faults and can be show worthy.

At the official AKC Marketplace, the breeders who did list their prices asked for $1,800 to $2,500 for their puppies.  These puppies, which came from AKC registered parents, were eligible to be registered with the AKC.  From what we noticed, AKC breeders would include all health screenings (AKC Ch. Von Seagawn’s V Star Indigo, OFA, Elbows, Heart and Eyes), vaccines, a comprehensive veterinarian, a microchip and introduced to crate training.

On PuppyFind.com, there were close to 500 listings at the time of this writing, with prices ranging from $600 to $1,500.

If you were able to find an older dog, which is often fairly common with local rescue groups, then the costs could be as little as $150.

This Reddit thread talks about the costs you should pay for one, and according to the replies, $850 to $1,250 should be the standard if the dog were checked for any health conditions and was of “quality.”

What is going to be included in the adoption fee?

A reputable breeder should include a written contract, registration, veterinarian examination, up-to-date vaccinations, worming a health guarantee, and if you’re adopting an AKC puppy, then the AKC paperwork should be included as well.  Some breeders may also spay/neuter, remove the dew claws, dock the tails, include a microchip, offer a genetic defect guarantee and/or include a travel crate if the puppy needs to be shipped via an airline.

What are the extra costs?

Factor in the recurring costs with any dog, such as the dog food, registration, accessories, flea medication, vet visits, grooming sessions and/or dog sitter visits.  A healthy dog can easily cost more than $700 while a dog with health issues could cost triple this.

If the breeder has to ship the dog, this can be an additional $200 to $400.

Most breeders will ask for a non-refundable deposit to reserve the puppies in the future, which is usually around $150 to $400, depending on the value of the puppies.  This, of course, will be applied to your final price once you commit and pick up the puppies on the designated date.  If not, your deposit will be kept by the breeder.

Obedience classes, as with any dog, should be done at a very young age to teach it the basics of sit, stay and lay down.

Tips to know:

Their average height, from the shoulders, ranges anywhere from 24 to 27 inches, with females slightly smaller at 22 to 25 inches.  As for weight, the males weigh 95 to 135 pounds, with females in the 80 to 100-pound range.

As long as healthy with a proven health history, its life expectancy is nine to 10 years on average.

Most breeders won’t allow you to take the puppies home until they reach the age of eight weeks.

The Rottweiler is very reserved with strangers but extremely affectionate with its owner and family.

Their energy levels tend to be very active, and because of this, you should be prepared to take your dog out for at least two brisk walks daily to satisfy their exercising needs.

The Rottweiler can get along well with children as long as introduced at a younger age; however, it’s highly advised you keep them away from other dogs and household pets due to their demeanor.

Always visit the breeder’s home or facility to check on the conditions and see the parents.  Pay close attention to the cleanliness, the yard, the overall conditions and the parent’s of the puppies you’re looking to adopt.  You’re going to want to pay close attention to their personality to make sure it’s something you’re looking for.  A good, clean facility often means an organized breeder.  Regardless of who you buy from, always ask for documentation.

A breeder should always include a health guarantee of some sorts to protect your investment.  At most, the breeder should allow you to bring the puppy back within a few days if your vet were to find something wrong.

How can I save money?

As you can see, buying a dog from a breeder can cost thousands of dollars.  To save money, highly consider avoiding those who are breeding for a profit and littering the world with unnecessary dogs and adopt a dog.  While there’s a good chance you can find an older Rottweiler, you may find a dog that closely resembles one.  Adopting is a great way to control the world’s pet population, help a local cause and potentially save a life.  Plus, you can save a lot of money in the meantime.
