Tips to know
For most average-sized kitchen projects, the entire job will be complete in less than a day.
According to the company, no demolition is involved as the slab will lay directly on top of your existing counters.
Its revolutionary product is proven to be scratch, heat and even stain-resistant as the diamond-polished surface makes cleaning a breeze. You can even cut without a cutting board without the fear of leaving marks. Also, since the product does not use grout lines, owners do not have to worry about dirty grout lines or the chance of bacterial buildup. Using what’s known as the ForeverSeal®, it is the only manufacturer that uses this polymer resin that infuses into the countertop to help the product last a lifetime. You can watch this video to see how strong the counters really are.
Aside from counters, the company offers cabinet racing options for a similar price.
All products are made in the United States.
The counters, once installed, require very little maintenance, with the exception of using a mild, all-purpose cleaner when cleaning. Since the product is nonporous, meaning it will not absorb colors or odors, the maintenance, when in comparison to other materials, is slim.
Recycled Glass Countertops Cost
As you probably already know, countertops come in a variety of material, ranging from laminate to a higher-end granite.
Recycled glass, a material gaining quickly in popularity, is not only environmentally friendly, but it’s also considered to be quite durable and pleasing to the eye with its colorful and mosaic-like look.
Made from 100% post-consumer recycled glass that is held together with a binding-type agent such as a cement or resin, recycled glass countertops comes primarily from curbside recycling, but some manufacturers use salvaged glass as well.
The cost of recycled glass countertops
The costs of a recycled glass countertop will greatly depend on so many factors, which we will discuss below, but on average, the costs of a basic glass countertop, including professional labor, can cost about $40 per square foot, whereas a premium countertop with customizations can cost closer to $110 per square foot or even more, depending on the contractor you work with. Aside from the factors we discuss below, your geographical region, the contractor you hire and where you get your countertops can all play a role in the final price.
With so many factors involved, it’s hard to give an exact cost, and for that reason, we highly recommend you check out the free tool, HomeAdvisor.com. Here, you simply explain your project, details and what you’re looking for, and with this information, locally licensed contractors will contact you with a free quote. No credit card is needed and this is a great way to receive multiple quotes without having to do a lot of research.
Angie’s List, in its interview with a local builder showroom, said the costs range from $51 to $113, all depending on the brand, color, rarity and the size of the glass pieces.
Consumer Reports states the average slab can cost $60 to $120 per square foot installed.
The cost factors
With recycled glass countertops, as with most countertops, there will be many variables which can greatly affect the costs. If you’re shopping for this type of countertop, here are a few variables which may affect your final price tag.
The size/thickness – The thicker the slab is, the higher the costs may be due to the increased material and labor costs.
Edge upgrades – Many of the quotes you do receive from a local contractor will be for a basic edge only, and if you want to upgrade this edge, then you should be prepared to increase the cost, depending on the type of edge you want.
Matching the seams – Since recycled glass countertops are so unique and every slab will be so unique, it can often be hard to match up the seams when more than one slab is used. If your setup will have seams and you want the slabs to blend as naturally as possible without being noticed, then this can cost more as the labor can be quite extensive.
Additional cutouts for sinks, etc. – Sinks and other utilities that need to be cut out when the countertops are laid can affect the cost as some contractors will charge separately for each cutout, while some may include a basic sink cutout in their quote. Always get all of your inclusions in writing before placing a deposit.
Corner upgrades – Basic recycled glass counters will not come with rounded or curved corners, and like the edges, if you wish to upgrade this area, then you can expect the costs to rise due to the increased labor costs.
Rarity – As mentioned, all recycled glass countertops will be so unique, and if you have your eyes set on a particular design, color, and/or pattern, then you should be prepared to pay a premium price for a rarer color.
Maintenance
All countertops will require some sort of maintenance and recycled glass counters are no exception. Even though recycled glass counters are heat resistant and can hold hot pots, it’s still best to get into the habit of using a hot pad to avoid any sort of thermal shock — a sudden expansion which could contract the material, causing damage.
Like the hot pads, recycled glass counters will not scratch as easy as other materials, but as a habit, it’s always wise to use a cutting board when cutting any food.
Whether the counter is resin- or cement-bound, keeping the counter is clean — simply wipe it down daily with a non-toxic cleaner with a soft cloth. Try to avoid any harsh cleaners as it can often damage the finish.
Recycled glass countertops vs granite
Granite, a natural stone often made up of quartz or mica, is quarried in larger pieces before it’s cut into slabs and sent off to a local distributor. As it’s natural, no two pieces will look the same. Just like glass being “natural” in a way, it’s made of everything glass-related, ranging from older bottles to windows and light bulbs, making no two slabs the same as well. During the process, all of the glass is crushed, melted, recolored and then fused together with either a resin or cement to create the countertop slab. Coming in a wide variety of colors, just like granite, the choices are quite endless.
Recycled Glass | Granite | |
---|---|---|
Appearance | Lighter in color with small pieces of glass specks strewn throughout the slab. Most clear, the size of the glass specks can range from as small as a pin to as thick as a coin. | Ranges from a darker to lighter color and will have a tighter, granular look to it and/or filled with colorful veins. Being unique, no two slabs will be the same. |
Maintenance | Depending on the counter is bound, cement-bound counters will require sealing annually, while resin-bound counters won't. | Being a natural stone, a stone cleaner is required to avoid staining. It also needs to be stained at least every two years to avoid any discoloration. |
Repairs | If a piece were to break off, it could cause some harm as it would be similar to that of a piece of glass breaking. While an epoxy can help, the glass within will be no different than a glass shard. | If a piece were to chip off, it could be glued back on using a strong adhesive, but if ignored, it can be quite rough to the touch. |
Brands
Some of the most popular brands on the market include Vetrazzo, EnviroGlas, Bottle Alley Glass, Curava, The Green Building Center and in some cases, buyers may be able to find a local company that’s able to create these types of counters from locally sourced materials.
Tips to know
While a recycled countertop does not have a specific “grade,” per se, it does have a green rating in most cases. A 100% recycled material-based countertop, for example, will be made from 100% recycled glass and only homogenous recycled glass countertops can claim this status. A recycled glass countertop made from either a cement or resin binder may not be 100% eco-friendly as some of the resin used during the production process will not be made from eco-friendly products; however, this is not always the case as some companies still use materials from a landfill, for example, during the process. Lastly, in the case of a brand new resin not used from any recycled materials, then it’s often made from up to 75% recycled material in most cases.
Press On Veneers Cost

Press on veneers, commonly referred to as temporary dental veneers, are quick, pain-free and are considered a temporary route to the perfect smile, according to DDSSmiles.com.
With no trip to the dentist required, you simply order them straight from the lab.
How much do press on veneers cost?
On average, the cost of press on veneers will greatly depend on the route you take (at-home lab vs. dentist) and the number of veneers you need. From our research, most of the press on veneers are purchased from an online lab and a dentist will not be needed. If you were to take this route, the average arch, either top or bottom, will range anywhere from $600 to $1,500 or about $1,200 to $2,600+ for your entire mouth. At-home kits, of course, will almost always be up to 40% cheaper than visiting the local dentist.
The Brighter Image Lab, for instance, states their kits, for either your top or bottom arch, can cost $795 or $1,295 for the entire arch. If you wanted to add an additional 2-year warranty, then you would want to add another $149 to the cost.
TruSmile, another online lab similar to Brighter Image Labs, charges $470 for both the top and bottom.
What exactly are press on veneers?
Press on veneers are temporary and removable, giving you the appearance of a “perfect smile.” While it will not correct any underlying dental problems, for some, it can be seen as a quick and easy fix if you wanted to look best for a special day such as a wedding or party. As the name indicates, these teeth simply snap onto your teeth after impressions are made of your teeth and gum line. As mentioned in the intro, this can either be done by using an online lab, where you take the mold at home by following the detailed instructions or you can use a local dentist who specializes with them, where they will make the molds for you and send them off to a lab they work with. These molds will use a resin which is applied to the tooth in question and is then hardened with a special light. Then, the resin is sculpted into an impression which is sent off to the lab to create your new “press on” veneers. Like dentures, you’re then able to take them off and on as you wish.
Who should use them?
Press on veneers, according to the dentists interviewed online, stated press on veneers are only great for those who are looking for a great smile but are unwilling to commit to a costly procedure or for those who cannot afford other methods. These veneers are not recommended for those with protruding front teeth, those with dental health problems and/or fort hose who are unable to take a precise impression. As always, talk with your dentist to explore your options, the costs and what could work best for your situation as everyone will have a unique situation.
The advantages
Price – In comparison to other veneers, it’s hard to argue the prices are steep. For far less than permanent veneers, you could have a brand new smile for less than $1,500, a fraction of what it would cost at a local dentist for permanent results.
Convenience – If you’re afraid of the dentist, then the press on veneers may be your best option as most companies allow you to take the mold at home and send it off to their lap.
Temporary – Not permanent, they are easy to remove if you’re unsatisfied or just do not want to wear them for the day. Even when wearing, you can eat and drink with them, just like your natural teeth.
The disadvantages
Results may not be what you want – Even though you are able to take the impressions at home, the results may not be as you want them to be since taking the impressions should often be left up to the professionals with experience. A poor impression can often lead to unwanted results and can be seen as a waste of money.
Fragile – Press on veneers are known to be lighter and thinner, making them prone to breakage.
Underlying issues – Sometimes, you may find that your smile isn’t the way you want it due to underlying problems such as gum disease, badly damaged teeth or other health issues. While you could cover these problems with veneers, it will not really get rid of the problem at hand; in fact, it will only make it worse.
Tips to know
For press on veneers, care is still required. Similar to dentures, these types of veneers will need to be cleaned with lukewarm soapy water and brushed with toothpaste daily. Depending on who you purchase them from, some companies will offer their own cleansing tablet that is used instead of soap in the water.
Even if properly maintained, press on veneers will only last up to two years, whereas permanent veneers can last well past a decade. Most reputable manufacturers, from what we researched, do offer a warranty that often lasts anywhere from three to 12 months on average.
Permanent Gold Teeth Cost
Known as gold grills/”grillz”, gold caps, gold slugs or even gold teeth, permanent gold teeth didn’t become popular until the mid to late 2000s. Even though it has been around since the early 1980s, the trend took off as of late with prominent hip-hop stars such as Nelly, Flavor Flav and even Justin Beiber supporting the look.
Often used for cosmetic purposes, dentists, however, have used gold fillings in the past before mercury amalgam fillings were available. At the time, gold was known to be nearly immune to corrosion and hard enough to form a biting surface that could be used for years. Over time, though, dentists soon used silver and other materials to replace the gold of the past.
How much do permanent gold teeth cost?
Not all gold teeth are permanent as some opt to use a removable set that simply attaches to the teeth and can be removed, similar to dentures; however, if you want a permanent set of gold teeth, then the costs will depend on dentist performing the mold, the lab they use, the amount of gold and if you plan on removing your tooth or creating a permanent cap which will simply go over your existing tooth. With all of this in mind, the average customized gold cap can cost about $150 to $650 per cap, but it can be much more if you wanted more carats or like a hip-hop star often does — add diamonds to it to further increase the price. According to Strikingly.com, for instance, Paul Wall, Snoop Dogg and Beyonce all reported spending thousands of dollars on their permanent gold teeth. Lil Wayne was said to spend more than $150,000 on his.
We found a store on Etsy, for example, which offered permanent individual gold caps that required no dentist and were all made to order with the included mold kit that came with each purchase. The teeth, which ranged from 8 to 24KT, came in a yellow, white and rose color, with prices ranging from $69 for an 8KT gold tooth to as much as $189 for a 24KT gold tooth. According to the description, these teeth did not require the typical dental cementing procedure and are customized to your teeth only, which came with an adhesive that you would apply to your natural teeth. If done correctly, the semi-permanent cement would adhere to your teeth for up to four months and another four months after that with their washing technique.
As for a gold crown, the costs will often be much more than a cap as there will be more work involved for a dentist. According to animated-teeth.com, the average gold crown can cost anywhere from $670 to $1,450 and will depend on the construction method, your city/state, if you have insurance and the dentist you use.
Permanent gold teeth caps | $150 to $650+ |
Permanent gold teeth implant | $650 to $1,600+ |
NOTE: Like picking out an engagement ring, the more carats you want, the higher the price can be. Use this as an estimate for an 8-24KT permanent gold tooth.
What exactly is a gold tooth implant?
Gold tooth implants, just like any other implant, are anchored into the jaw to replace your natural tooth in its original space, unless you’re opting for a cap, which, in this case, will “cover” your tooth. Working just like your natural teeth, gold teeth, as indicated in our introduction, is often used as cosmetic purposes and dentists 99.9% of the time will not recommend them if you’re in need of an implant. More than just a gold tooth, you can even customize it to add artificial/real diamonds or even gemstones for that added flare.
Gold tooth implants, made up of two pieces, will have an outer layer made of a titanium implant that is surgically attached into the mandible and the actual gold tooth. Compared to other materials, gold implants are known to place stress on the teeth, but due to the costs, again, dentists will never recommend them as they are only seen as a “cosmetic” value today. The benefits, in the end, are almost identical to all other types of implants.
The process
The most common way for a permanent gold tooth is via a mold, regardless of which method you choose. With the exception of some specialty shops, such as the Esty reference above, your dentist will first want to visually examine your tooth to make the decision to either create a cap, if you choose, or an implant, which will take the place of your natural tooth that is eventually removed. To do so, your dentist will take an impression of your tooth via a molding kit and will send it off to a lab they work with to create the perfect impression of the tooth they are mimicking. On average, this mold should come back to the dentist in as little as seven to 14 days, or in some cases, they may have an in-house lab that’s able to create your tooth on the spot.
From there, once the dentist receives the mold, they will ask to come in for a future appointment to either cement the new cap to your existing tooth or add the new gold implant tooth to replace the old one.
Tips to know
Aside from the United States, gold teeth are used around the globe, particularly Asia and Russia, and is often seen as a status symbol sign, usually indicating wealth.
Implants are not as successful for those who either have weaker jawbones and/or have a record of gum disease. Your dentist will always be able to discuss your options and if you’re a good candidate for the procedure if you do choose this option.
While it’s not “permanent,” many companies produce novelty gold teeth which can cost less than $20.
According to the ADA, there are no studies which show that the long-term wear is safe or harmful, but if you do wear a grill, it’s extremely important you floss, brush and use mouthwash to prevent any potential problems which could get caught in between your teeth.
Mini Split AC Installation Cost

A mini split air conditioning unit is often ideal for those who currently do not have the right ductwork setup to service a central AC unit.
Not requiring any ductwork, it is often an effective cooling option to keep multiple rooms in your house cool during the warmer months.
Mini split AC installation cost
The average cost of a mini-split AC unit will depend on the type of unit desired, the number of indoor units, the size, energy efficiency rating, the contractor you hire and your geographical location. When hiring a professional, it’s best to budget at least $2,500 to $7,500, when including parts, with the unit alone often retailing for $700 to $2,200+. Depending on the time it takes to install the unit and the number of evaporators being installed alongside with it, the labor alone can range from $1,000 to $2,500+, depending on the local contractor rates and the extent of the job. For most jobs, plan on the contractor being at your home most of the day for about six to 10 hours based on these factors.
BTU | Average Install (Labor+Parts) |
---|---|
9,000 | $3,000 |
12,000 | $4,000 |
18,000 | $5,000 |
24,000 | $5,500 |
NOTE: These are average quotes for a brand name, 16 SEER unit that’s mounted with a heat pump, inverter compressor and basic installation.
On Amazon.com, for instance, the most popular units retail for about $500 to $750. If you were to factor in another 10 hours for the professional labor at $100 an hour, you could be looking at a grand total of $1,500+, for example. To install, a contractor will first install the condenser, followed by adding the evaporator mount to mount the evaporator. Once mounted, the evaporator is connected to the condenser, followed by covering the lines to make the final connections, and while the job does sound like a DIY, most recommend you leave it up to a qualified HVAC professional as recessed and concealing units may require additional wiring and/or HVAC expertise.
As there can be multiple variables as you can tell, we highly recommend you get as many quotes as possible to make sure you’re not only working with an experienced contractor but are getting a fair quote a swell. We recommend using HomeAdvisor.com, a free online tool that allows you to collect multiple quotes from locally licensed contractors for free. No credit card is needed, and all you have to do on your part is explain the job and watch the quotes come in.
One member on this Angie’s List thread said she received a quote for $1,500 just for the installation and wanted to know if the quote was accurate. According to the response, the top responder said it was a deal based on the information she shared.
According to one member on this Houzz thread, they were quoted $2,200 for the unit and another $2,500 in installation, making it a grand total of $4,700.
The factors affecting the price
The number of units – A mini split is split into two main components: the outdoor compressor and the indoor air-handling unit. Unlike a central A/C unit, however, a mini-split can have multiple units, essentially increasing the price. As each unit inside will have its own “zone,” the more rooms you want to control and cool, the higher the final costs can be.
Size – The size, measured by the tons or BTUs, can increase the costs as the larger the mini-split will be, the more you can pay.
Energy efficiency – The system’s rating, measured by its SEER rating, can save you more in electric bills but will cost you more for the unit itself.
Labor – As with any professional, the labor will depend on your geographical region and how they charge, either by the hour or as a flat-rate.
Extras – In some cases, additional jobs may arise, depending on your current setup. In some cases, removing an older unit can increase the costs as can pouring a new concrete pad for an outdoor condenser and/or creating an opening in an exterior wall for the new unit. Upgrading the electrical wiring to code, if needed, can be an additional cost to consider as well.
What’s included in the quote?
According to Mission AC, the entire installation cost should include the outdoor unit (condenser), the indoor unit (the air handler), the copper line sets, electrical wiring, electrical disconnect box that meets code requirement, a PVC drain line, condensation pump, wall bracket, condensation sensor, refrigerant, all necessary permits, miscellaneous smaller parts, a new dedicated circuit breaker and all labor. All contractors will vary with their inclusions, so be sure to always ask, in writing, what you’re going to get with your final install price.
The types of units available
There are two common types of mini-split AC units on the market: a single zone unit and multiple zone unit. As the name indicates, a single unit will be less in terms of costs but it will only be used to cool off one room only. The multiple zone unit, as you can imagine, will cool off more than just one room, with some units designed to cool off an entire home. Usually, the higher the capacity, the more powerful it can be for your home.
How does it work?
A mini-split AC system will move the hot air inside of your home, transport it into the condenser and then release it outside, cooling off your room/s to the desired temperature. In the winter, it can do the complete opposite, reversing the process, bringing the cold air from the inside of your room to the outside, heating your room to the desired temperature. Like other AC units, the mini split unit will also have a BTU or SEER rating, which determines the strength of the airflow. For single units, most are rated at least 24,000 BTU with a SEER rating of at least 17.
These units are typically installed on either the higher up on the wall, which is the most common, or suspended, concealed or recessed from a ceiling.
The advantages
As stated in the intro, a mini-split AC unit is a fantastic choice for those who do not currently have ductwork setup in their home and are looking for an efficient way to cool down their home, similar to that of a traditional air conditioning unit. You will not have to retrofit your home, nor will you have to install new ducts, which could cost thousands of dollars, depending on the size of your home.
These units, due to the simplicity, often take much less time to install when compared to a traditional air conditioning unit, saving you more money on installation costs.
Another great aspect many do not think about is the customization. Depending on the type of unit you want to purchase, you can control multiple rooms inside of your home, depending on the number of evaporators connected and the unit setup. For instance, if you had it connected to three bedrooms and the main living room area, you could program is so that the bedrooms only turn on at night when you’re ready to go to bed, ultimately saving you a lot of money with your electricity bill.
Most units today are mounted via the ceiling, not the window, allowing you to hide from the exterior of your home. This can be helpful for two reasons: For one, it can help the aesthetics of your home as some feel the window units look tacky, and secondly, some see window units as a cause of concern for security purposes since some break-ins happen by simply taking the unit out of the window.
The disadvantages
As with everything, there’s always a drawback and the mini-split air conditioning unit is not an exception. According to Energy.gov, these units are not nearly as efficient when you compare it to a central AC unit. In fact, it can cost up to 30 percent more in electricity bills, even if your room is at the same temperature under the same circumstances.
Not all homes are created equal, and for this reason, you may find a contractor may not want to install this type of unit due to the setup of your home. For example, you may not have the space necessary for a unit or the look, even if acceptable, may not be appropriate for some homeowners.
QuickLift Mini Facelift Cost
QuickLift, a company that has branded a facelift surgery technique for lifting sagging skin, markets itself as a way to tighten your sagging skin on either lower portion of your face or the neck in a minimally invasive way.
As one of the many companies today which created a branded name to market their version of a facelift, the procedure, regardless of which company markets it, addresses the early signs of facial and neck aging.
How much does a QuickLift mini facelift cost?
The cost of a QuickLift mini facelift, just like a traditional facelift, will depend on the complexity of your situation, the amount of anesthesia you need, additional procedures (if needed), the health facility where it’s performed, the surgeon you choose and your geographical region. From what we researched from those who did share their costs online, health insurance companies will almost never cover the procedure as they will always consider it a cosmetic procedure. With that being said, the price paid, for most, out of pocket, ranged anywhere from $5,500 to $9,000 without insurance, making it about 20 to 40 percent less than that of a traditional facelift.
Take a look at the table below to see what kinds of costs we found online, along with the source where we found this information. Remember, your final price will depend on so many factors, so it’s best to take this as a ballpark estimate only:
What others are paying... | |
---|---|
$6,000 as opposed to $8,000 traditional lift | SOURCE |
$6,200 | SOURCE |
$5,000 | SOURCE |
$6,500 | SOURCE |
According to more than 75 reviews on Realself.com, 83% claimed the price was worth it, with the average price being $8,000 for those residing in the United States.
Factors affecting the price
Location – Where is the procedure going to be performed? Inside of a hospital which will require an overnight stay or inside of an independent outpatient facility? Aside from the actual facility, the geographical region will play a role as well.
Type of anesthesia – The type of anesthesia being used can affect the costs, as well as local, IV sedation or general anesthesia, can all increase or decrease the price. Aside from the anesthesia, who performs it can play a part since a board-certified anesthesiologist will charge much more per hour than an RN.
Your surgeon – As with any surgery, your surgeon’s experience, certification and training can all play a role. The best trained, meaning those who went through the most training and surgeons who are also board certified via the American Board of Plastic Surgery can demand much more than a surgeon with less experience and certifications.
Complexity – No one will be the same in terms of a facelift as someone who needs other procedures done alongside the facelift, such as a brow lift or liposuction, for example, will cost more than someone who needs a straightforward QuickLift procedure only.
How does the procedure work?
The entire procedure is an outpatient, minimally invasive procedure which will take about two hours when it’s performed by itself. The patient’s age, the degree of facial rejuvenation needed and other cosmetic enhancements can increase this time frame, however. The procedure is usually executed with a local anesthesia or a twilight sedation.
QuickLiftMD.com states the procedure begins by creating a tiny, relaxed “S” shaped laceration along the sideburn area, extending along the tragus of your ear, around the earlobe and up to the hairline near the nape. After the incision, the underlying connective tissue and facial musculature is slowly lifted and tightened using what’s known as a purse-string suture approach that is able to create an immediate enhancement of the jawline and upper neck area. Lastly, any redundant skin is removed and the incision is closed under magnification while using the surgeon’s suturing technique to minimize any scarring.
According to Dr. John Alexander II, MD on Realself.com, he has claimed to have experienced less stress, fewer complications, better results and happier patients. In comparison to a traditional facelift, the QuickLift is still considered a surgery, with incisions just as long, but the loosening of the skin will be much less. Because of this, the tightening of the muscle is better and safer in his opinion, making it a comparable choice when compared to older methods.
The recovery process
Depending on your surgical experience, the recovery time, as long as you just had the QuickLift, tends to be rather “quick,” with some even calling it a weekend procedure. If you had the procedure on Friday, for example, you could feel comfortable by Monday afternoon, but again, it will depend on the surgical approach and how well your body reacts to the surgery. Since the procedure is customized to every patient’s situation, it can extend the recovery time, meaning it can be hard to offer a definite recovery time. Check with your doctor before the surgery begins to know more about what your surgical recovery process will look like. In most cases, even with additional procedures, patients can find themselves feeling comfortable with 14 days.
Most patients find themselves with very little discomfort, with only some needed a prescription for relief. In some cases, some may even notice slight bruising at the scarring site, but most of the time, makeup can camouflage the area. To help minimize any swelling, doctors will recommend you sleep with your head raised for the first seven days and use a cold compress for the first 48 to 72 hours after the surgery was performed.
Tips to know
Because all patients are different with their desires, the procedure can be used to either enhance the upper neck area or liposuction may be used in conjunction for a more defined look.

Honda B123 Service Cost
Service B123 often indicates that your vehicle model, whether it’s a Civic, Pilot or Accord, often around 30,000 to 60,000 miles, will need routine mileage service done, and during this time, your engine oil will need to be changed, along with the cabin filter and engine air filters, to name a few.
Depending on your exact Honda model and the numbers displaying on your dashboard, the vehicle computer located at your dealer/mechanic will be able to tell them exactly what needs to be serviced at the interval once plugged into the computer.
Honda B123 service cost
The B123 service code, as mentioned in the introduction, will be routine service related, and from what we saw online, most Honda owners would need their oil changed, cabin filter swapped and air filter changed as well, usually at a minimum.
Each number, which we will go into detail in our table below, will each indicate a certain service that needs to be performed. In some cases, for example, the tires are rotated, the automatic transmission is flushed and the entire system is inspected in depth. Depending on what’s done, most people, if they decide to choose a local Honda dealer, often spend $200 to $340 for the synthetic oil change, transmission flush, and a new cabin and air filter if the B123 code was displaying. This all, of course, can all change depending on what you want to be done at the time of service as you do not necessarily need to have it done as it is all routine maintenance but highly recommended.
According to one auto service Honda technician on JustAnswer.com, he mentioned that the costs, when the oil change and filters are included, can cost up to $450, but in some cases, the vehicle computers may tell the mechanic that other service needs to be done at the time of service.
One member on this Piloteers.org forum thread noted his A123 light came on and he was quoted $242 for the oil change, tire rotation, a/c and engine filter, and the transmission fluid.
On another forum thread at GreenHybrid.com, this member was quoted $440, but when he changed the cabin and air filter on his own, he was able to knock $145 off the total, bringing the entire total to $295.
Learning about the “B123” code
The symbol “B” means that it’s time to replace the engine oil and the oil filters as well as inspect various systems and components, depending on your exact model. You or the mechanic will refer to the service manual for more details as to what needs to be inspected at this time.
As for the numbers, refer to our table below to see what each number indicates:
1 | the tires need to be rotated and the pressure and condition need to be inspected |
2 | the air cleaner element needs to be replaced, check the drive belt and replace the dust and pollen filter |
3 | replace the transmission fluid and transfer fluid if you have it |
4 | replace the spark plugs, timing belt and inspect the water pump and valve clearance |
5 | replace the engine coolant |
6 | replace rear differential fluid if equipped |
Freight Broker License Cost
A freight broker acts as the middleman between an entity that wishes to transport property and the carrier that is actually going to do the transportation, and these brokers never touch the actual cargo, but instead, act in more of a logistical role.
In order to become a freight broker, however, the United States Department of Transportation (DoT) requires all brokers have a freight broker license.
How much does it cost to get a freight broker license?
First, in order to become a freight broker, you will first need to obtain a DoT ID number as you will be asked for this number for future applications. To do so, you will want to visit the official FMCSA website to file the OP-1 form, which is the form for the Application for Motor Property Carrier and Broker Authority. When filling out the form, you will want to select the “Broker of Property (except Household Goods)” since you’re applying as a broker only. To file the OP-1 application, there be a $300 filing fee.
The next step, after applying for your DoT ID number is to obtain a surety bond as this will act as an insurance in the event the shipper is unable to pay for the shipment. If the shipper were to default, for example, then the broker will have to cover the costs, and if the broker is unable to pay, the bonding agency incurs the cost. As most firms only issue bonds to those with good credit and a clean background, you may be able to find one that makes an exception. With $75,000 bonds being the most common as it’s the minimum required by the government, the annual premiums can be about $500 to $2,500 for a $10,000 bond or about $5,000+ for the $75,000 bond, and this cost will depend on the amount of the firm you choose. When you finally choose your bond and are approved, you will need to be verified by the FMCSA, a process which most firms are able to do.
Lastly, you need to consider your freight broker license, a license which is required for you to legally operate as a broker in the United States. You will do so by applying at the FMCSA website, and after being approved, you will receive a federal motor carrier number. Depending on the state, this fee ranges anywhere from $500 to $1,000 on average.
Freight Broker License | A freight broker license is require to become a broker in the United States. You will apply for this type of license via the FMCSA website. | Varies by state, but is often less than $1,000 |
Surety Bond | A BMC-84 freight broker bond is also required, and as of 2013, federal regulations mandate at least $75,000 per year. | $500-$10,000 a year, depending upon value, how long you have been in business, your financial condition and the firm you use |
Authority | A license any broker must obtain via the FMCSA before entering the business. This certifies that the business is qualified and authorized to move any freight. | $300 application fee for the OP-1 form application |
The additional costs to factor in
Office startup supplies/software – Even if you have a bond and you have successfully applied, you will still need to factor in your equipment, often including your computers, at a minimum, your office space, a fax machine and the typical assorted office equipment. Also, to make business operations easier, you will also need to consider tax-related bookkeeping software (Quicken and TurboTax) and office suite programs such as Microsoft Office. All of this, based on your preferences, will be no different than setting up any other office-related enterprise. As the sky can be the limit, be prepared to set aside a few thousand dollars to get your business off the ground and running.
Personal insurance – Aside from a surety bond, you also need to protect your personal assets in the way of a good liability insurance policy. These policies, depending on your situation and the amount of coverage you need, can cost as much as $1,500 to $3,000+ per year.
How can you earn your freight broker license?
First, you will want to fill out the URS form, as mentioned above, with the FMCSA while paying the $300 application
Next, after you submit the application, the FMCSA will grant you a motor carrier number which will then be used with the entire licensure process. On average, it can take up to six weeks to receive your number, according to Learn.org.
After you receive your number, you will then need to fill out a BOC-3 form as a proof of a process agent and at this time, you will need to provide proof of your insurance, with the coverage, at a minimum, equating to $75,000.
As a freight broker, you will also be asked to designate a process agent for any state you wish to do business in. This processing agent will represent your company and will receive any court documents in case of a legal proceeding. Brokers, if they wish, can designate themselves as an agent if they wish.
As the last step, as long as you meet all of the steps above, you will then receive your license of operating authority, allowing you to do business as a freight broker.
