How Much Does Einsteinium Cost?

Einsteinium, named after Albert Einstein, was the seventh synthetic transuranium element in the actinide series to be discovered.  It is a radioactive metal with just a few milligrams of it being made every year from the plutonium in the nuclear reactors.  It was discovered within the debris from the initial thermonuclear explosion that took place on a South Pacific atoll on November 1, 1952.

Einsteinium can be obtained in milligram amounts from neutron bombardment of plutonium.

Einsteinium is so rare that it is not sold on the open market.  Besides scientific research, this element has no other known uses.  Because Einsteinium does not occur naturally, it is made synthetically.  So far, only small amounts of the element have been made.  Its longest-lived isotope, the Es 254, had a half-life of 276 days.  Einsteinium is the element having the highest atomic number that has been observed in macroscopic amounts in its pure form. It has the atomic number 99 and a melting point of 860C.  It was identified by Albert Ghiorso and his co-workers at Berkeley, California, in December 1952 within debris taken from the initial thermonuclear or hydrogen bomb explosion in the South Pacific.  The fallout material, isolated from a neighboring atoll, was then sent to Berkeley for analysis and was examined by a team that was composed of Gregory Choppin, Albert Ghiorso, Bernard Harvey, and Stanley Thompson.  The Einsteinium that was isolated had formed after some uranium atoms captured numerous neutrons and had gone through some series of capture and decay steps, thereby resulting in Einsteinium-253 that has a half-life of 20.5 days.

Enough Einsteinium had been collected by 1961 to be visible to the naked eye, and then weighed, even though the element amounted to just 10 millionths of a gram.

There are many bus systems in the area that continually cross back and forth over the Golden Gate Bridge.  Check with these bus routes and schedules to see if there is one that you could ride to get to your destination.  This will be cheaper than driving your own car and paying the toll every day.

How Much Does it Cost to go Across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge?

The Chesapeake Bay Bridge crosses the Chesapeake Bay, providing vehicles access between Stevensville (the Maryland Eastern Shore) and Annapolis (Sandy Point).  It was officially named the William-Preston Lane, Jr. Memorial Bridge.

The Bay Bridge is part of the U.S. Routes 301 and 50, and it currently serves as a crucial link in both routes.

The bridge spans 4.3 miles long and has a capacity for about 1,500 vehicles per hour, per lane.  The annual traffic on this bridge is estimated to surpass 27 million vehicles.

The Chesapeake Bay Bridge, otherwise referred to as the Bay Bridge, is a key dual-span bridge located in the state of Maryland, US.  Spanning the Chesapeake Bay, this bridge links the state’s rural Eastern Shore area with the Western Shore. The  Chesapeake Bay Bridge was officially named The William-Preston-Lane Jr. Memorial (Bay) Bridge.

The bridge takes Route 50 across the Chesapeake Bay between Annapolis and Kent Island areas.  The Bay Bridge is 4.3 miles long and is one of the longest over-water structures in worldwide.  This bridge is actually 2-side by side bridges with two traffic lanes on each span.  The very first bridge (the eastbound span) was opened in July of 1952, while the second bridge (the westbound span) was opened in June of 1973.

Usually, all lanes on every span have traffic moving in a similar direction.  However, during rush hours, as well as times with heavy weekend beach traffic, these lanes change direction to ease traffic congestion.  The lanes have been marked clearly with lighted marking in order to show which way to go.

Tractor-box trailer combinations will not be permitted to cross any bridge if the gross weight is less than 64,000 pounds.

Traffic Holds/Bridge Closure – Sustained wind speeds or wind gusts exceeding 55 mph.  In the event of a sudden increase of sustained wind speeds or wind gusts that could jeopardize life or property, the MDTA may elect to discontinue the movement of traffic across the bridge.

Even though it seems like the transponder is an extra cost, there is a chance that you can end up saving money by using the E-ZPass.  Instead of having to stop and swipe your card, there is a transponder that can be mounted to your car.  This transponder has an initial fee of $34, but it also comes with a $25 toll credit.  This means that the transponder ends up costing you $9.  This transponder is linked to your account, in which you can sign up for a certain E-ZPass plan.

The SkyZone admission price will depend on what day it is, how many hours you wish to jump and the location you’re going to.  From our research, it can cost about $12 per person for 30 minutes, $15 per person per hour, $21 per person for 90 minutes or $26 per person for 120 minutes.  Again, this is the average, and the prices will greatly vary depending on your location.  This price may rise if a special event were going on at the time, however.

The Peoria, Arizona location, for example, allows you to buy tickets via the official website.  As of 2017, the cost of a 60-minute activity pass was $14, while the 120-minute activity pass cost $20.

Activating charcoal will work by trapping toxins and chemicals by its millions of tiny pores.  It won’t necessarily “absorb” the toxins, however; instead, it will work through a chemical reaction process what’s known as adsorption.  This is the reaction of elements, including chemicals, nutrients and toxins that are soaked up and assimilated into the bloodstream.  The porous surface, according to Dr. Axe, has a negative electric charge that can cause positively charged toxins and gas to bond with it.

Activated charcoal is not the charcoal you use on your backyard grill.  This type of charcoal is loaded with many chemicals and toxins and should never be consumed.

It is suggested you take two capsules two to three times per day, at least three to four hours before a meal or as recommended by your physician.

As per Dr. Axe, the same source mentioned prior, activated charcoal can be used to whiten your teeth, alleviate bloating, prevent hangovers, filter water, remove toxins in an emergency and reduce high cholesterol.

Not all supplements will be created equally and this is why it’s very important to pay close attention to the ingredient label.  A good activated charcoal will be made from either coconut shells or an identified wood species.  In the powdered form, many brands often include artificial sweeteners to add more of a taste to it.

Activated charcoal is deemed safe for most, but it doesn’t mean side effects won’t persist.  Activated charcoal can interfere with the absorption of nutrients, supplements and even prescription medications in some cases.  Always talk with your doctor if you have any concerns.

Be sure to price compare as most retailers we looked at greatly varied by a few dollars.  At the time of this publishing, it appeared as if Amazon was the cheapest option, followed by Walgreen’s.  If you have time to wait a day or so, Amazon.com seems to be the best option.

Buying in bulk can often bring the costs down as well.

Builders risk insurance is designed to specfically protect builds that are being renovated or under costruction.  Coverage, depending on your policy, can include protection for the construction materials, HVAC equipment, labor costs and other construction-related expenses.

How much does builders risk insurance cost?

On average, the cost of a builder’s risk insurance ranges anywhere from 1% to 5% of the total construction budget.  The exact cost depends on the level of coverage you need, the project type, your geographical location, the construction type and the insurance company you use.  A project within a flood zone or in an area prone to wildfires could cost more than a location with very few natural disasters.

TheBalance supports this price, stating the average range can be anywhere from one to four percent of the construction cost, but again, it will greatly depend on the type of coverage and exclusions within the policy.

Citizens General Insurance Brokers says the costs will depend on the time you need the policy, the geographical location, the type of construction and the policy deductible.  In the end, there really is no standard formula for pricing, according to the site.

Builders risk insurance overview

Builder’s risk insurance, sometimes known as “Course of Construction” policy, is a form of property insurance that covers buildings that are under construction, renovation, or repair as well as all of the equipment and materials used in the project.  It is designed for protecting the owner of the property and the contractor from loss of property on a building or a number of buildings under construction.  The coverage can be particularly important in case you are working with materials prone to damage, or when working in a region prone to certain kinds of severe weather conditions.  Typically, you will need to purchase coverage for 100% of the anticipated construction costs.

Damage from fire, wind, theft, lightning, hail, an explosion, vandalism or vehicles is often covered.  Limited coverage may also be available, depending on your policy.  This may or may not include earthquake coverage, employee theft, flood damage, war, a contract penalty, voluntary parting and/or a mechanical breakdown.  It’s always best to read the policy in its entirety to know for certain what’s covered and what isn’t.  According to TheHartford.com, for example, their policies include coverage for foundations, underground pipes, wires, machinery, fixtures, temporary structures, falsework, fencing, construction signs, landscaping, labor expenses, debris, profits and more.

The policy is set for a certain duration, which is usually up to a year, but if the project is still under construction when the policy expires, it can be renewed again.  Typical durations can last three, six or twelve months.  The coverage typically ends when the building is occupied and/or completed.

What are the extra costs?

Some builder’s risk covers include soft costs.  These are the expenses or reduced income resulting from delay in the completion of a project and include costs such as interest charges on project financing, workers overtime, advertising and promotion, realty taxes or other assessments, costs associated with lease renegotiations as well as accounting, architectural, engineering or legal fees.  Soft costs may be built in the insurance premiums, in which case the price will be higher, or added and charged as an additional premium.

If the policy has to be renewed, additional costs have to be considered.

Builders risk insurance will not cover injuries on the job site.  To cover accidents, a separate liability policy will have to be purchased.

Other optional coverage may include earthquake coverage, flood coverage, legal fees, license fees and/or additional expenses that cover business income.

Tips to know:

Normally, builders risk insurance contract specifies the owner of the property, the contractor, as well as any sub-contractors to be insured.  Whether the owner or the contractor will be the one responsible for obtaining the insurance cover will depend on the contract.  In case the contractor is the one responsible for obtaining the insurance policy, it can be added to the contractual cost.  To ensure that the policy terms and limits are suitable, the contractor and brokers need to review the building contract, construction schedules, financing agreements, and other related documents.

If this is the first time that you, as the property owner, has been in this position, it would be best to find a contractor that will take care of the insurance for you.  This company should already have plenty of experience with this type of insurance and most likely already has a company with which they work on a regular basis.

When choosing a policy, make sure that you find out how fast they will pay out claims.  If you are on a construction timeline, a slow payment process can slow down the job.

In most cases, the insurance won’t cover sub-contractors, tools, equipment, professional liability and accidents at the job site.

Many insurance companies often want a builder to have at least two years in construction experience to approve them for a policy.
