At wedding or any event for that matter, your chair options are quite endless, and if you hire an outside rental company or browse at your venue’s list, there’s a good chance you can upgrade to a “Chiavari chair,” which is simply a fancier wooden chair with elaborate designs as noted in the picture below.

The costs of renting Chiavari chairs will depend on a few factors, such as who you’re renting from, the number of chairs needed, the accessories needed (covers), the colors, height, your geographical region and the complexity of the event setup.  With so many factors that can affect the price, it’s hard to offer an exact quote; however, based on the research we did online, we found out that you should be prepared to spend anywhere from $4 to $8 per chair to rent Chiavari chairs without covers for your upcoming event.   This will not include the “extras,” if you were to need them, which we talk about below.

These chairs are often offered by the venue you’re renting and considered an optional upgrade, but if the venue doesn’t offer the chairs for your event, then you will have to research a local rental company that offers the chairs for your event.  In this case, you may need to factor in a setup and delivery fee if you were to consider this option, effectively increasing the cost estimate mentioned prior.

For example, on this Weddingbee.com forum thread, one member stated she was quoted $7 per chair for 200 people, making the grand total $1,400 for the upgrade, and as with any venue, most will consider the Chiavari chair as an “upgrade” to the chairs they already offer.  As such, this is often an optional expense and is only based on your preferences, with most soon-to-be brides claiming it simply isn’t worth the upgrades.  Another member on this same thread noted she was quoted $12.50 a chair, plus another $2.50 for the chair covers.

Amerevent Event Supercenters, a rental company located in the Atlanta, St. Louis and Kansas City region, posted official prices on their website, with the costs, depending on the color of the chair, averaging about $4 to $6 per chair, but if you need them to set up the chairs, place the cushions and/or ordered less than 100 chairs, then this could add another $1~ to the chair costs.  These prices, as per the company’s website, noted a $1 off special if you met the requirements.

One more event company we found, ElegantParties.com, noted the costs of a Chiavari chair rental would depend on the colors and the height of the chair, with the average cost ranging from $5.50 to $12.75.

The extra costs to think about

Covers:  Adding covers can add yet another $3 to $5 per chair, depending on the venue/rental company’s policy.

Delivery:  If your venue doesn’t offer the chairs, then you’re going to have to hire an outside third-party company, which, most of the time, will charge you a delivery fee based on the distance to the venue.  However, in some cases, the company may waive this fee if you order enough chairs for the event.

Setup/Tear Down:  If you need the company or venue to set up and tear down the chairs, then this could add another $0.50 to $1 per chair, on average.

Cushion Placement:  In some cases, if you wanted cushions added to your chair, this is usually considered a premium add-on and can cost another $0.50 to $1 per chair.

Colors:  Most companies based their quote on a certain set of colors, but in some cases, may offer premium colors for a premium fee, usually no more than $1 more per chair.  Popular color upgrades often include gold and clear, for instance.

Minimum:  If you do not meet the minimum rental requirement from a company, some may charge a premium, but this is often dependent upon the company’s policy.

How much do CertaPro painters cost?

The costs of a CertaPro painter, like any painter, will depend on multiple factors such as the size of your home, what needs to be painted (interior vs. exterior), the height of your ceilings, the type of surface, the geographical location and the time of year.  With this many factors, it can be hard to offer an estimate for a job, but we can offer an idea what you may pay if you do decide to hire CertaPro painters based on the information we found through third-party websites.  While the official website does not offer exact pricing, they do have a “get free estimate” button located on the front page that you can click and fill out the necessary information to receive a quote from a local painter.

As each location is independently owned by a franchisee, you may find the costs for your particular job may vary, but from what we researched, the costs seemed to be in the “middle” of the quotes, meaning you should be prepared to see quotes in the $1.50 per square foot range, with prices greatly higher or lower than this if you decide to hire them for speciality services noted below.

One reviewer on this Yelp.com review for the Phoenix location noted he received several quotes and CertaPro came in the middle but ended up choosing them based on the quality and previous jobs he was able to see in person.

Another reviewer for the Salt Lake City location on Yelp noted he paid $580 to have two bedrooms with 10-foot high ceilings painted.

The services offered, as per the official website, includes a range of services, from custom painting to painting on virtually any surfaces, including stucco, siding and wood, to name a few.

EPA RRP Lead Services:  If your home was built before 1978, then you will want to make sure you’re working with an EPA RRP Certified contractor, a service that CertaPro offers.  The company claims that when you work with their services, you can be assured that your lead-based paint job will be handled in a safe matter that complies with EPA regulations.

Cabinet Refinishing:  Instead of outright replacing your kitchen or bathroom cabinets, CertaPro’s service list notes they can remove your hardware, cabinet doors and then completely paint your cabinets to create a fresh, new look.

Deck Staining:  Aside from painting exterior and interior surfaces, the company also can paint decks, patios, archways and patios around your home, all while protecting it from the outdoor elements.  From sealing to staining, CertaPro contractors will make sure your outdoor surfaces last as long as possible.  Outdoor jobs, such as these, will include preparing the surface by sanding, power washing the surface to prepare it for staining, sanding the areas to create a smooth surface and finally painting or staining it with a premium paint.

Power Washing Services:  While CertaPro is primarily known for painting, they do offer power washing only services for surfaces such as wood, bricks, concrete, asphalt and aluminum.

Popcorn Ceiling Removal:  While popcorn ceilings used to be trendy, many homeowners today look for ways to get rid of it by hiring the pros.  CertaPro, as per their services list, offers popcorn ceiling removal as a specialty service.

Stucco Repair:  If your stucco is beginning to show its age and/or cracking, then the company can repair or replace the surfaces, followed by applying an elastomeric/waterproof to seal the surfaces and finally painting.

Wallpaper Removal:  CertaPro specialists can install all sorts of wall coverings, aside from the typical paint job.  From silk wallpaper to decorative wall borders, the company can consult and install virtually any covering you envision.

How CertaPro works

To get started on your project, the company first asks that you connect them via the company’s official website to fill out the form to gather more information.  Once you supply them with project details and contact information, a local CertaPro franchise owner will connect with you and set up a time that’s convenient for your schedule.

On the day of your consultation, CertaPro will great a detailed proposal as they walk through your space, taking note of all of the requests you want.  They will also get to know your home and you through what’s known as the “Certainty Pledge®” to help customize the way they are going to work with your daily routine.

If you do decide to hire CertaPro, then the company will set up a date to start painting and will begin the job according to the project’s detailed proposal.  During this time, a job supervisor will manage the team, help deliver updates and tackle any problems which may arise during the job.  For your project, CertaPro will wash any necessary areas of the home to remove any dirt and mildew, prep the area by scraping away any loose paint and sanding areas, followed by priming and painting the areas, creating a uniform finish.  Once complete, the painting crew will clean up the entire job site and a final inspection follows.

How much does CarShield cost?

The cost of CarShield will depend on a few factors, such as the type of car you drive, the type of policy you want, what you want to be protected and how much you use the car.  With a variety of factors involved, it’s hard to pinpoint an exact price, but we are able to offer an estimate based on what others shared online but do keep in mind that the company will connect you with a third-party company and will not offer the plans themselves.  To know, for certain, what you may be charged, you can either request a free quote via the button at the top of their official website or call 1-800-974-9385 for more information.

From most of the insurance quotes we did find online, we noticed the range to be in the $125 to $225+ a month, with a small $200 to $300 deposit in the beginning to activate your account.  In the table below, we went ahead and listed some of the quotes we did find online:

New Car: Similar to that a new car manufacturer warranty, this protection plan is designed to cover everything from engine to transmission failure to fuel pump and starter breakdowns.  According to the official checklist, this would include coverage for the engine, transmission, drive axle, transfer case, A/C, fuel delivery system, fuel injector, fuel pump, steering, suspension, brake system, electrical, wiring harness, instrument cluster, GPS, factor audio, starter, alternator, power windows, water pump and radiator.

Comprehensive:  The best option, according to the company, for those who are already driving a car with miles on it.  This protection policy will protect the engine, transmission, A/C, electrical components, starter, fuel pump, water pump and more.  According to the checklist, once again, everything in included just like new car protection plan, with the exception of the wiring harness.

Power Train+:  A coverage option for both major and minor vehicle parts, including the engine, transmission, alternator, starter, air conditioner and power windows.  Checking the checklist, this plan would cover the engine, transmission, drive axle, transfer case, A/C, fuel delivery system, fuel pump, starter, alternator, power windows and the water pump.

Power Train:  Said to be the most affordable option by the company, this plan will cover the most important parts of the car, including the engine, drive axle, transfer case, water pump and the transmission.

Motorcycle:  Similar to that of the vehicle protection plans, the motorcycle warranty plans offer similar comprehensive and powertrain plans, plus options for an additional offroad vehicle such as an ATV.

How does it work?

CarShield does not offer the warranty, as per the FAQ; instead, they are considered to be a nationwide company that will connect you with a leading third-party administrator, working with companies such as American Auto Shield and United Car Care, to name a few.  When you first work with the company, they will ask you a series of questions and then determine which company would be best for your situation.

CarShield reviews

The business, not BBB accredited, had more than 350+ reviews, with an F BBB rating.  Most people complained about advertising/sales issues, billing issues and problems with the service.  Our website doesn’t recommend focusing on the BBB as the company itself has been under investigations in the past using extortion-type practices.  We just linked to the page to offer you an idea as to what customers were complaining about.

Yelp reviewers gave the company an average 1.5 stars out of five, with most complaining about the unethical business practices and advertising methods.

We did find other review websites, which we will not name due to their own unethical practices, gave the company high remarks, but it’s hard to confirm or recommend these reviews since the companies in question often offer great reviews to companies that participate in the website’s business programs.  While the company isn’t a scam in our eyes, just make sure you read the contract in full when the company connects you with a third party company to know what’s covered in the future.

How much does it cost to join the Austin Country Club?

As per the official website, the Austin Country Club is a privately member-owned club, meaning only those who receive an invitation from current members in good standing can apply here.

For those who are able to receive an invitation or are just curious about the prices of a membership, the costs are not publicly displayed on the official website, with the exception of the type of memberships they offer — golf, tennis and social, each with its own inclusions.  Again, with no information publicly available via the official source, we were able to find some numbers via an unconfirmed third-party website, stating the membership costs could be in the $100,000 range for the golf-only membership, according to the Austin American-Statesman.

According to one member on this City-data.com forum thread, who knew of a member at the club, noted a social membership would have a $13,500 initiation fee and $240 in dues, whereas a resident membership, which included golf, tennis, dining, pool and all of the other club’s facilities, would have an $80,000 initiation fee.  While the thread was a few years old, this could offer an idea as to what you may need to budget if you were a member.

Even if you had the invitation and the cash to join, the Austin American-Statesman also notes there’s a 17-year waiting list for those looking for a golf-only membership.

Club amenities

Golf:  The club offers one 180-acre 18-hole golf course, designed by Pete Dye, one of the top golf architects in the world, according to Golfweek Magazine.  The course, as per the description, is known for its dramatic 18th hole fairway fall, deep pot bunkers and turf, with limestone slabs, all quarried on site, build as revetments for the fairways, greens and tees.  Aside from the golf course, additional golf amenities include the Harvey Penick learning center.

Tennis:  The club features 10 tennis courts, eight of which are hard surfaces, with the remaining two har-tru.  As a lighted facility, the club also offers a full calendar of tennis programs for all ages and skill sets, a full time teaching staff with four USPTA certified professionals and two instructors on site, as well as a pro shop featuring all of the latest in tennis-related merchandise.  Private lessons, development clinics, leagues, social mixers and tournaments are all readily available throughout the year.

Fitness:  The expansive fitness center, available to members only, offers seasonal fitness classes and certified personal trainers.  Opened from 5 a.m. until 10 p.m. daily, as per the website.

Pool:  A 50-metered heated pool, which is home to the club’s Dolphins swim team.  During the summer months, entertainment is available for the family, with adult lap swimming available deep into the winter season.  Lessons are available year round.

Marina:  A 57-slip marina, available for private lease for Resident, Junior and Senior members, as well as a year-round boating membership without the need of being involved in boat ownership maintenance.

Clubhouse:  The large clubhouses offers multiple dining areas, meeting rooms, lockers rooms and a large ballroom.

Tips to know

The club, like many country clubs, follows a strict dress code while on the premises.  In general, men are not allowed to wear hates in the Terrace of banquet areas, for example, while Harvey’s, the restaurant on site, does allow causal attire.  For more information in regards to the official dress code policy, refer to the “attire” page on the official website.

To date, the company has mailed more than 35,000 pieces.

How much does Artful Ashes cost?

The cost of the glass art via the official website wasn’t publically list, but we were able to find the shipping costs on the official FAQ page if you did live outside of the Seattle area and/or couldn’t deliver the ashes personally.  If you were to have a complete USPS Priority Express mail package delivered to your home, this would cost $25.40, but Canadian customers would pay $23 for expedited parcel.  Again, this is for the shipping prices only, not the price of the actual art.

As for the art, we had to dig into third-party resources to find out what the pieces cost, and from what we found, the prices seemed to be in the $185 range, according to the Kearney Hub.  These prices are only an estimate and are not deemed to be accurate.  To be certain as your situation could vary, it seems to be very easy to contact the company, either through the official website on their official Facebook page through the instant messenger.

A reviewer on the company’s Yelp page showed a picture of the orb she had created and noted the orb for her retailed for $185, plus another $15 for the lighted base.  This didn’t include the shipping fee as mentioned prior, which would cost another $25 and yet another $25 to have it shipped back.  In conclusion, if you wanted this orb at the base price, it would be best to budget $185 plus the $50 for shipping, bringing the total to $235.

What’s included in the art?

The company asks that you bring in a small amount of ashes, about one tablespoon, either via the collection kit in the mail or in person at their Seattle office.  Inside the glass art, your loved one’s ashes then show up as a tiny white foamy layer that’s sealed forever, often with small bubbles inside the piece, referred to as “spirit bubbles.”  Customers, from what we did read in the reviews, could pick and choose the colors they wanted inside the piece, creating a “unique” item.

Depending on the piece you want to purchase, the hearts are 3 1/2 by 3 1/2 inches and 14 ounces in solid glass, the orbs are 3 inches across and also 14 ounces of solid glass, while the angel wings are 1 1/4 inches across and 1 ounce of solid glass.  Each memorial will include a short inscription, which is usually located on the back or the bottom of the piece.  You can see a variety of the options on the official website.

Tips to know

Orders are completed and delivered to the customer within four weeks, according to the company.

Even if you send in too many ashes, the company will send back any ashes they didn’t use.

The Art of Charm Boot Camp, a revolutionary boot camp designed for men with social anxiety issues, was created by a team of social dynamics experts to help men rewire their mindset to offer sky-high confidence in any social situation.  By the end of the program, the boot camp will teach you what you’re doing wrong in social situations and how to fix it immediately.

How much does the Art of Charm Boot Camp cost?

The official website, from what we researched, doesn’t let you figure out the prices; instead, they ask you to supply your name and e-mail address so that the company can schedule a call and allow you to learn more about the program through a “discovery call” with one of the boot camp’s representatives.  If you do decide to apply, the company notes on its website that a teammate will contact you and determine if you’re a good fit for the boot camp.  If so, then you will schedule yet another call to discuss what you want to work with and prepare you for the boot camp if you do decide to apply in the future.  In the end, according to the company’s FAQ, the costs will depend on the date you attend, if you’re a veteran and the payment plan you choose, and since each student is different, the pricing will vary, greatly based on demand.

While we were not able to find prices on the official website, we were able to find some pricing information via third-party resources.  Even though these prices could not be confirmed, it appeared the boot camp was in the $7,000 to $8,000+ range, greatly depending on how you paid and your situation.

On a Yelp review, for example, that was “not recommended,” one reviewer noted he was quoted $7,000 if he paid in advance or $8,000 if you pay in rates.  If you fly in from another country, then the boot camp would deduct $500 from the cost.  These were prices as of the spring of 2017 and are subject to change and cannot be guaranteed.  Again, since we could not find the prices online, we had to outsource the prices from third-party resources.  For exact, prices, we highly encourage that you contact the boot camp directly for more information.

This WordPress entry, which appears to be written by the company, noted payment plans were available for clients who were interested in joining.

How does the boot camp work?

According to the official website, those who sign up will spend five days in a “lavish” Los Angeles home, with each day broken down with a specific schedule to help teach you the right skills to confidently walk up to strangers, avoid coming off creepy, instantly read someone before talking to them, becoming the superhero to help solve tough conflicts, get invitations to events and command respect from others.  To learn about the program in detail, the admin at Knowledgeformen.com wrote about his experience attending the boot camp.

How much does Airrosti cost?

The costs of Airrosti, from our research via third-party sources online, would greatly depend on your insurance policy if you had one and the location you used.  With insurance, co-pays per session could be as little as $10, while those who paid out of pocket reported paying upwards of $200 per session.  As the average patient will need at least three treatment sessions to see results, we would advise you budget at least $600+ for three sessions if you do not plan on using your health insurance plan.

According to the company’s official FAQ, they do accept a broad range of carriers and are actively working to establish relationships with new insurance companies, so with all of this being said, it’s best to talk with your insurance company to know what you would be responsible for if you were to make an appointment.  To see if they accept your insurance, we recommend you go to the official insurance verification page located on their website.  The company, at this time, does not work with Medicare.

On this Yelp.com for the Houston, Texas location, one member claimed that she paid over $200 for each of her three sessions, effectively bringing the total cost to $600.  This was also confirmed among many of the Yelp pages for their other locations.

Rachel Stolle via her Blogspot.com post stated she only had to pay $10 per visit plus another $40 for “The Stick,” bringing her grand total for five visits to $90.

Airrosti is a healthcare group that employs and also trains providers who specialize in delivering high quality, outcome-based musculoskeletal care, according to the FAQ.  Their primary focus, while working one-on-one with each patient, is to help reduce recovery times, while preventing unnecessary costs associated with surgical procedures, medications and imaging.

During each visit, active recovery/rehab is performed, following a highly targeted manual therapy, which is designed to help restore function in the targeted body part to help correct any injuries to the soft tissue.  The term “active recovery,” again, per the FAQ on the official website, refers to a customized program designed by the company to create a customized program that consists of exercises and stretches to help target the specific injury.  These exercises, when performed, can help speed up your recovery period, and if done at home in a consistent manner, then it may help enhance your flexibility, range of motion and even prevent future injuries from occurring again.

As the company only focuses on manual manipulation, making it a non-invasive and natural treatment, the company does not provide medications and/or steroid shots.

What to expect

Each treatment session will last one hour, with each session specifically catered to your treatment plan.  During the first initial treatment appointment, your provider will perform a clinical assessment to help evaluate your condition, determine the cause of the pain and use a hands-on approach to deliver a soft tissue/joint mobilization.  Active rehab will then be used to help speed up your recovery and help prevent any future injuries.  To know more in detail as to what to expect, the company offers multiple videos on its website.

Tips to know

The company does claim that if they are unable to help you or you even decide that you do not want to seek treatment with their company, then up to that point, they will refund any money that has been charged before the start of the visit.

The 20Lighter Program, a doctor supervised weight loss program, was co-founded by Dr. Gerry Dembrowski and Dr. Jess Barnes, two medical professionals who applied years of holistic patient care, research experience and science to create the program.

Commonly heard on radio station commercials, such as 100.7, the company wants you to “begin the journey to reclaim your health.”

How much does the 20Lighter Program cost?

The cost of the 20Lighter Program, from what we researched online, would greatly depend on the type of program you signed up for as the company offered three primary options:  the “7 Day Healthy Gut Jumpstart program,” “20 Day Program,” and “40 Day Program,” all which have its own description and corresponding prices we get into later in this guide.

The 7 Day Healthy Gut Jumpstart program, for example, would cost $95 to join, while the 20 and 40 Day Program would include in-home video appointments with the staff, with the total costs of the 40-day program said to be in the $2,000 range, according to some of the reviews on Yelp.  While you cannot see the reviews talking about the prices on the active page, you will have to scroll near the bottom to expose more than 40 “not currently recommended” to see what people had paid.  One person, in particular, noted she spent $1,600, for example.

These prices are not confirmed, only sourced from third-party websites.  Since the company does offer a free consultation, this is a great way to learn about the program and see what the program can cost you.

The program offerings

7 Day Healthy Gut Jumpstart – a program designed to offer “actionable steps” to help start the process of building a healthier guilt.  With this program, which you can join online, patients will receive seven days of educational topics on ways to achieve a healthier gut, “must-have” information on supplements and exercise, tips for developing a personalized meal plan, gut healthy recipe book, online community access, and resources to help you learn, even after the program completes.

20 Day Program – the 20-day program, as the name implies, will last 20 days, followed by a two-week transition period back into your normal lifestyle.  The 20-day program, as per the official description, includes a free 60-minute in-home consultation via video, all needed materials to join (WiFi enable scale and program materials), daily check-ins with the medical staff using the web portal, a 20-day personalized meal plan, found journaling access online, a video conference 14-20 days after you start and a final conference in the last few days of the transition period.

How much does a 2-10 home warranty cost?

According to the official website, the warranty service agreement “covers the repair and/or replacement of the home’s major systems and appliances, including both parts and labor.”  Warranties which cover your home’s systems and appliances, which we go more into detail below, are said to be anywhere from $350 to $600+ per year, with a deductible ranging anywhere from $50 to $100 every time you make a service call.

Adding in additional coverage options, such as additional refrigerators or a roof leak, to name a few can increase this cost.

In conclusion, for a basic home warranty from 2-10, be prepared to spend $350 to $600+ per year, but if you were to add additional coverage options to your policy, it wouldn’t be unheard of to have your policy reach more than $1,000 a year.  These additional fees are said to add yet another $60 to $100+ per item, per year.

As with any home warranty, the costs will depend on what you want to be covered, the size of your home, the type of home and the deductible you choose.

On this HomeWarrantyReviews.com review page for the company, for instance, a few commenters, albeit not confirmed, stated they paid close to $1,100 a year for two homes, whereas another commenter said they paid $99 a month for more than six years.  On average, the average premium ranged anywhere from $305 to $600, with the average deductible in the $60 to $100 range.

Via this Yelp.com review page, for instance, one reviewer said he paid an additional $100 to upgrade to the “supreme” package and another $160 to add his pool and spa.

According to one member on this City-data.com forum thread, he was quoted $300 a year and $50 per service call, while another was quoted $450 per year, with a $200 deductible.

What systems and appliances are covered?

Covered systems, as per the official website, include the air conditioner, furnace, plumbing, water heater and the electrical panel, while covered appliances include the refrigerator, oven, dishwasher, built-in microwave, disposal, trash compactor and the washer and dryer.  These inclusions are subject to change but seem to be standard for most home buyer warranty inclusions.

The company also offers a “new home 10-year structural warranty” plan that’s designed for newly constructed homes and covers load-bearing components such as the floor framing, columns, beams/girders, footings/foundation system, load-bearing walls, partition sand the roof framing system.  For this type of warranty, the company does note that it can only be purchased by the builder who is a member of the 2-10 HBW.

Additional coverage options

As with any home warranty company, additional options can be added to your policy for an additional fee, including a pre-season HVAC tune-up, extended pipe leak, additional refrigerator-type appliances, a roof leak, septic system, pool equipment, water softener and/or water pump.

If you were to add the pre-season HVAC tune-up to your policy, for instance, then the company would have one of their preferred service contractors come to your home, either in February and March or October and November, to perform a tune-up on two HVAC systems at the address on file.

On Yelp, at the time of this publishing, 200+ reviewers gave the company a 1.5 star out of five stars, with a large amount of the reviewers complaining about the lack of communication, the actual coverage provided and the “reputation” provided.

The official BBB page gave the company an “A” rating; however, 97% of the reviews were negative.  We usually do not include the BBB reviews as the company as the company in itself is unethical, it allows you to explore more in depth as to why people complained about their warranty.

The Amen Clinic, according to the official website, is different since it focuses on the health of your brain and your quality of life, effectively learning how your brain functions.

Founded by Daniel Amen, a popular psychiatrist, has been featured on multiple PBS shows and his line of books, including his top-seller “Change Your Brain, Change Your Life.

How much does the Amen Clinic cost?

According to ScienceBasedMedicine.org, Amen charges patients $3,500+ without any insurance coverage to take a SPECT (Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography) scan, a scan which uses an injected radioisotope to help measure the blood flow in different areas of the brain to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of various conditions such as ADHD, depression, anxiety and dementia, to name a few. The Washington Post also confirmed the  $3,500 price tag for a full initial session, which would include two SPECT scans.

A recent Yelp.com review for the Costa Mesa, California, location, however, noted a 30-minute appointment will cost $225, but in the end, three counseling sessions and tests could be closer to $5,000 in total.  With hundreds of reviews, it’s apparent that everyone who does visit the clinic will experience different price points, but it’s best to budget at least $3,000 to $5,000+ and be prepared to spend $250+ for future follow-up appointments every six months based on what we researched.

For a phone consultation, before you begin treatment, they are available at $200 for up to 30 minutes or $400 for up to 60 minutes as per the official FAQ.

As for follow-up visits after the initial scan has been performed, the company, as per the website, notes a 30-minute follow-up visit, via in-person or over the phone, can cost $200 per half session with the doctor or $125 per half session with one of the nurse practitioners or physician’s assistants.  This fee would include the visit and the writing of reports/letters.  These follow-up visits will depend upon your needs such as changing your medications or to simply follow up every six months.

For insurance coverage, SPECT studies, in some cases, may cover the scans, but this will all depend on your policy restrictions.  The Amen Clinics, however, will not bill the insurance companies, meaning you will be given a “walk-out statement,” containing the applicable diagnosis and billing codes, which can then be submitted on your own to your insurance company for any possible out-of-network reimbursements.  To know if a SPECT study will be performed, you will want to first talk with the clinic to receive a CPT code and then call your insurance company to see what you will be responsible for if you were to use an out-of-network provider.

The process

The chain of Amen Clinics primarily uses SPECT imaging, which is a nuclear medicine procedure designed to help study parts of the body such as the brain, bones, liver, heart and thyroid.   This imaging scan can help the doctor study your blood flow and activity patterns of your brain.  The entire purpose, as per the website, is said to be a reliable and proven method to measure the brain blood flow and activity, making it a primary tool used at the clinics to help evaluate and treat conditions related to the brain due to the patterns of activity noted in the scan as the scan can help their physicians observe three primary things:  the areas of the brain that are working well; the areas of the brain which are working too hard; and the areas of the brain that are not working hard enough.

Aside from SPECT imaging, they clinic also uses two neuropsychological tests, Conner’s Continuous Performance Test-II and WebNeuro, to help offer the physicians details on how your brain is working.  The Conner’s Continuous Performance Test-II, for instance, helps assess response speed, impulse speed, and focus, whereas the WebNeuro test can help measure the function in emotion, self-regulation and feeling.

If your hormones are deemed out of balance or your mental clarity seems to be out of balance as well, then additional lab tests may be necessary as well.

Using the recommended tests above, physicians can then determine a unique targeted treatment plan, which can include medications, nutritional supplements, psychoterapy, medication and more.  As everyone will be unique, no treatment plan will be the same.

For the complete evaluation process, from start to finish, the company recommends you allow two to three days, spending upwards of three hours each day.  Due to Dr. Amen’s research and teaching duties, patients will not be able to see Dr. Amen personally but are assured all physicians at the clinic have been trained by Dr. Amen.

The Amen Clinics have been highly criticized if researched online and while the results are mixed, it’s up to you to make a logical decision.  The official website, for example, lists multiple peer-reviewed studies in regards to SPECT studies, whereas Sciencebasedmedicine.org criticizes the method.
